Museo Cabanas is considered a 'World Heritage Site" by the UNESCO, and it's an infrastructure originally implemented in 1791 by the Bishop of Guadalajara Juan Ruiz de Cabanas (who inherited plenty of money from a rich family). The original infrastructure was created by Manuel Tolsa (a renowned architect from Mexico City) as an orphanage to house thousands of kids, and... More

A wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Well worth the small admission price. Next week they are having a Diego Rivera exhibit.

Guadalajara's finest museum, with a good selection of Mexican paintings, sculptures, and an impressive 57 part mural. The building itself is a joy, with small courtyards and colorful design. Entry was 70 MXN per person, plus 30 MXN if you'd like to use a camera.

spectacular yet serene architecture - thankfully NOT overtly religious or military, tho influenced/used by both. The Orozco murals are worth the trip, of course, but also has great temporary exhibitions that seem to be consistently world-class. No excuse for missing this on a visit to Guadalajara.

A beautiful colonial building. It holds wonderful exhibts and a wonderful display of Orozco's frescos on the main dome. Stroll around the many patios and take time to have a cup of cofee.

We were not impressed with Orozco's mural, and the other exhibitions are not so interesting. This city has some amazing art in the Tlaquepeque and Tonala and I strongly recommend to spend more time there. The 70 peso they ask to visit is way too much.

Great escape from the bustle of Guadalajara. Unique 3D mural that is special for the Jalisco state. Would go again to this museum.
