Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Art Vallarta is a combination Gallery, Theatre, and apts for artist. This place is worth a trip. If you want to learn to paint, sketch, make ceramics the people are amazing. It is what I call a giving Gallery not a taking Gallery. It has a sense of community with all different people from every walk of life. The shows are great and Nathalie Herling the owner is a delight and will warm up your creative instincts to assert their abilities.

ArtVallarta is an oasis to be creative. Located in the beautiful Zona Romantica, the setting allows you to express yourself among others who have the same desires. Not to be missed!

I was only there a month but wanted to stay much longer. The teachers are great and the other participants became good friends. I hadn't thrown pots in a few years but it came back with some excellent coaching. It was very relaxed and it was okay that I was just a beginner in some of the endeavors. I always felt supported. I was lucky enough to stay in the San Franciscan which is connected so I enjoyed the luxury of play, art and relaxation, food and sleep all within a few feet. and the beach was minutes away.

Art VallArta is housed in the San Franciscan condos in Zona Romantica and is a fully-equipped studio space offering classes in many different art mediums, a theatre, a gallery, a clay cooking school, and a space for experienced artists to do their own thing. Run by the wonderful Nathalie, Art VallArta is a great place to express your creativity or learn something new. Lessons in watercolour, acrylic, plein art, and painting on silk; life drawing in the theatre; fused glass; and ceramics are among the courses offered in this fully-equipped space.
I took lessons in ceramic hand-building from Mexican maestro Froylan Hernandez and made and glazed two masks under his guidance. Froylan is a very experienced artist who is very patient with newcomers to the medium. He is able to explain all aspects of the technique clearly and was very helpful in helping me realise my vision. See more info and pictures here: http://lmaclean.ca/2015/02/the-devil-is-in-the-details-el-diablo-at-art-vallarta/ Nathalie is a clay cooking maestra and we also had the pleasure of taking her Morrocan cooking class, held in the rooftop kitchen and terrace overlooking Banderas Bay with a fabulous view of the setting sun over the city below. See pics here: http://lmaclean.ca/2015/03/moroccan-cooking-in-mexico/
Nathalie also curates and organises a couple of art exhibitions at Art VallArta during high season. The 2nd annual Romance in the Romantic Zone exhibition of art on the theme of love drew four hundred people to its opening night, offering, in addition to framed two dimensional pieces, ceramic and glass wear, and a gigantic wall mural of a heart, a tunnel of love installation through which visitors walked to gain entry to the show. I really love Art VallArta and the community of artists gathered there. Giant cudos to Nathalie for making it happen!

We booked to see Noche De Alebrijes at art vallArta during our stay in Puerto Vallarta during the day of the dead festivities. The theatre was lovely, a very small intimate setting. The show was great, and the actors were really good. We booked from the UK and when we arrived the theatre staff were expecting us, and knew us by name which was a nice touch. We got to see the artwork at the workshops prior to the show which was interesting. The staff are clearly passionate about their environment and this enthusiasm rubs off. We had a lovely evening. The only thing we found difficult was finging the theatre, and even the taxi driver didnt know where it was, which is a shame.

Last night we had the best time with Ruben and Nathalie. We participated in preparing 4 distinct
authentic salsas, sopes of pork and huichicotle while enjoying home made sangria. Of the many highlights of our experience, we most enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of our hosts and the other guests. Truly one of my best nights ever in spectacular Puerto Vallarta.

Excellent class. Douglas provided great guidance and really helped me focus my painting. I would definitely take another class.
I came prepared with canvas and paints, but it turned out that these were all provided to the students. However, it did allow me to finish off my painting on my own time.
I also found my painting was inspired by the warm and colours of Puerto Vallarta.

Art Vallarta has it all!! When I was down in old town Puerto Vallarta I was delighted to discover Art Vallarta!! It is the spot for art, creativity and fun!! There are classes in almost any medium from oils to watercolors and acrylics if you want to paint! There is life drawing in a beautiful theatre with a stage, a pottery studio and glass fusion studio. You can get art materials there as well if you are in the Puerto Vallarta area. If you are looking for fun check out their art exhibits and classes. Usually there are alot of creative activities around Dias Los Muertos and there is the most amazing Valentine's party and show with entertainment! I have even attended some great film presentations there. Visit and get involved. There are drop in day activites to scheduled workshops and classes. Definitely worth checking out! I felt like I hit the jack pot when I found Art Vallarta!
