I spent a week in Bucerias in July for a solo vacation, and was fortunate enough to have Andru recommended to me by another surf instructor. I honestly can not say enough good things about my experience. From our initial conversations setting up the times and pick up locations, to our last goodbyes, I was so impressed with him. I felt so very safe with Andru. Knowing he has worked as a lifeguard and a surf instructor made me feel very safe surfing at a break I'd only briefly visited once before. Andru is the kind of guy that you just immediately vibe with. He is so friendly and kind, and made me feel at home at his beach. You can tell he has a lot of respect from other surfers and instructors in the bay from how they all talk with him.
I loved every minute surfing with him. He helped build my confidence so much, and while we waited for sets to come in, he shared his immense knowledge of the ocean, surfing, and life in his community. I was only going to go out twice with him, as I had some other trips planned during my stay, but I ended up sending those and spent 5 amazing days surfing with him. I can't wait to bring my daughter down in March and put her in a lesson with him, and I will be back next July on my solo trip once again to surf with him. I also met Ramseys out in the water with his clients, and they were all having a blast. I've had lessons from other instructors and these were the best ever. So much gratitude to this guy for making my trip magical.

We had a great experience surfing with Andru and Ram. We hadn’t originally planned to try surfing during our visit, but it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Andru and Ram were super accommodating for our group, even allowing some non-surfing spectators join in to watch. We had a wide range of ages surfing as well— Andru and Ram were patient, helpful instructors. We were amazed that our entire group was able to stand up and surf with it being our first time. I highly highly recommend surfing with The Roots Surf School— Andru and Ram were amazing! We had so much fun.

I had so much fun learning to surf with Andru!!
I took a few group lessons with him during my vacations in Puerto Vallarta, and all the people I took lessons with were beginners. Regardless the fact that we were all surfing for the first time, at the end of our first lesson, we were all able to catch waves!
Andru is not only an amazing surf instructor, he is an incredibly kind person too. It was also very easy to schedule surf lessons with him.
Furthermore, since I was staying in Puerto Vallarta (and there isn’t any surf breaks there), he would pick me up at my hotel and gave me a ride to the surf spot (playa La Lancha) in Punta Mite every time. Finally, on my last day surfing, my friend wanted to come with me to La Lancha (the beach there is beautiful) but she didn't want to surf. Andru offered to her to come with us and even made sure to bring a parasol for her!
In short, if you are looking for a surf instructor in the Puerto Vallarta/Sayulita area, don’t look further, you just found the best one!

Starting surfing with these guys years ago. The best. Enjoyable and low key. Always feel like a local when surfing with them. If you want to learn and enjoy the area, this is the place to start.

Andrew and his team led a fantastic surfing experience. Probably the most fun I've ever had in Mexico! Gladly will be back and will recommend friends and family to go. 1st time surfing and fell in love wit it

This crew is amazing! Top notch who lead our group on a waterfall hike. There were six in our crew and Ram and Andru took total care of us! Highly knowledgeable of the local area and vegetation. Ended the day with local ceviche which was incredible! Highly recommend - visit from MN!!
