A bus trip from Mazatlan to Durango
Jan. 2020
The bus terminal in Mazatlan is small but clean. I took the ETN bus line from Mazatlan to Durango. The bus was first quality with wide seats and clean bathrooms. The new highway is amazing! I learned that in the past it took 12 hours to get from Mazatlan to Druango but with this new road it only takes 4.5 to 5 hours. A good amount of tunnels were needed to go across instead of around the mountains but the Baluarte Bridge just takes your breath away, standing 400 meters above the Baluarte river, and surrounded by all of the Sierra Madre muntains.

Awesome bridge
Jan. 2020
Van tour to Durango took across the Baluarte Bridge. It was awesome to see although you could not stop and get out. Lots of tunnels on this new and improved road. Long trip (4 hours each way) but and interesting visit to Durango.

Lovely bridge
Dec. 2019
Lovely bridge, but it's a bridge. The drive there is nice but a long way to go to see a bridge. We only got to stop for about a minute just to take a picture.

Must see

Take a day tour to Durango, well worth the money. This is a true architectural feat you don’t want to miss. There are over 60 tunnels through the mountains and the bridge is breathtaking. This bridge can also be viewed by air if flying to Dallas. Look for the bridge and tunnels a few minutes before landing or a few after leaving Mazatlán airport.

Bridge Only A Part of Amazing Road
Nov. 2018 • Family
We took a trip to Durango and rode in a van along the new toll road from Mazatlan. The Baluarte Bridge is impressive, but only one part of this amazing road. A smaller suspension bridge is just as amazing and there are better viewpoints of the smaller bridge from the road. This road has 60 tunnels and over 100 bridges through the Sierra Madre mountains. The scenery is breathtaking. There is a lot of truck traffic, but drivers are very good about pulling over on the generous shoulders in order to let you pass. There is also quite a bit of construction and repair going on in some sections causing some delays. It is still worth the trip.

An engineering marvel

This bridge is very impressive. You need to take the toll road to Durango to go over this bridge and many more. You also travel through 60 tunnels on the trip. Well worth the effort.

Worth the drive, once.

Drove from Durango to Mazatlan and back. There were, I believe, 48 tunnels on this new highway. There is no turnout for a scenic view or pictures, which was a shame. Be careful, the drop offs are steep!
