Though not truly 'cliff diving' (They dive from a rock about 40 feet high) it is still an exciting, scary sight. The divers must time the ocean swells to have enough water (About 6 to 8 feet) so they don't break their neck.. They start with a 'shill' who climbs atop the railing on the platform and whistles, yells, crosses... More

There are far better things to see in Mazatlan than these folks who focus on securing tips and minimizing their supposed performance.

This was an interesting stop on our tour of Mazatlan - a very busy area for tourists! Vendors for shopping and food and drinks. It feels like a little hustle for donations to get money for the divers, but that is all they get for diving. It seems to be a very dangerous exhibition and I didn't hear stories of... More

We were just doing an afternoon walk along the coastline north of Olas Altas and I walked out to the rock pinnacle and was about to climb the stairs when two fit young men said - "Senior, we will jump and you can give us a tip if you like it!" I returned to the parking lot/viewing area and these... More

So, los clavadistas is a definite must see in Mazatlan. Where else are you going to see men diving off of a 15 meter cliff type structure, clearing 2 meters of horizontal rock, and landing head first in a dive in 1 m deep water between sharp rocks? They ask you for money but if you time it right, you... More

Watching these skilled cliff divers on our Best of Mazatlan Tour was amazing. We had watched divers in other parts of the world, and these are some of the best. They have good form. Donations are encouraged. The bus tours do a good job of arriving on time to see them from a good viewing area.

When you go to watch these guys dive walk up to the top of the tower they dive from and check out the little pool they have to hit. One hell of a way to earn a living but they do, tip well and enjoy the experience. Try a shaved ice from one of the vendors....my favoroute is the truck... More

Well, yeah, sure we watched a young teen dive into the ocean and survive but that was only after watching him prep by chugging a couple of Pacificos to gather up the courage. He shouldn't have been allowed to dive and we facilitated it by paying first.
