Old plaza surrounded by restaurant, lots of music, entertainment some nights, old world charming feel a lovely, enchanting place.

I visited early in the morning. Quiet, colorful, beautiful. Good to spend 60 min for pictures. Later that morning construction trucks began rolling up and down the street. About 10 min easy walk to famous church.

Restaurants and shops surround this older plaza. Palms and shade trees, along with a bandstand, make up the decor. Stop for lunch at one of the many restaurants, or simply sit in the shade on a bench. Restored buildings surround the plaza as well as the area. All of the resturants are a great choice!! Music is everywhere !! Often on Saturday night there are vendors in the square with anything you could want to buy! Peaceful, interesting, friendly choice for a Saturday night!!

This city square has flowers and shrubs, walking paths, and benches for sitting. It is surrounded by shops and restaurants. There is always something going on in the square, and there are vendors about, also. When we were there, there was a fundraiser meeting for autism awareness. We also saw a quinceanera party. Great old colonial plaza with loads of restaurants to choose from. It is also within easy walking distance from the Opera House.

Plaza Machado is considered the heart of the Historic district in Mazatlan. Don Juan Nepomuceno Machado donated the land to the city in 1837 with the stipulation that it would be a public meeting and gathering area. Later it was named after the benefactor, a Silver merchant. We love visiting the Plaza Machado. So many restaurant choices in the area and typically there will be some sort of entertainment in the evening.
