At one time this area was nice, but now is showing it's age. Many of the stores are closed down and boarded up. There is garbage in the streets and on the beach. The hotels all seem to cater to the all you can eat crowd.

Absolutely the nicest beach to stroll up and down, with sand looking like it's infused with gold as the sun shines down on it.

Take your pick. Go one way from your hotel and walk back the other way. Really great walk when the tide is out. If you are not interested the beach vendors respect your "no gracious" response.

Every day thousands of camionetas, buses, and pulmonias traverse Mazatlan's amazing malecon loaded with gringos from the Golden Zone. While we fundamentally disapprove of gringo zoning, we're happy that the public transportation required to service the GZ brings an enormous chunk of cash into Mazatlan's economy. But we never stay in the "zone". Why? The beaches are microscopic and scant... More

The golden zone in Mazatlan is so much fun and very desirable. You will find it stretches forever with beach and you will find the true culture of the Mexican people in this wonderful city. We love being able to experience not only the hotel life if you want to just do a resort but really love the little restaurants... More

When traveling i don't enjoy buying lots of stuff. I don't enjoy the haggle at all. If it is your thing it may be worth checking out.

Shopping, eating and walking in the excitement is quite entertaining. The restaurant choices range from Mexican to Italian with lots of in between. Whether it be for currency exchange, fine dining or gift merchants much is available in the gold zone!

We visited this place last week and were disappointed with how this place has declined. Much of the area is abandoned and boarded up. There is much garbage in the streets and it stinks.
