Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The weather was glorious...especially after the winter we've been having in New York!
The Mayan Palace Resort/Grand Mayan was beautiful. The grounds rivaled any tropical botanical gardens we've visited! The facilities are well-maintained and sparkling clean, staff was terrific and there was no pressure to take sales tour. The pool at the Mayan Palace is truly amazing...so many nooks and crannies to sit, swim and play. Easy shuttle service to the Grand Mayan to access the beach there, with easy towel service and at this time of the year, there was no problem getting a sheltered tent or hut on the beach. Although the vendors on the beach were numerous ( we counted over 20 different items or services offered), they were never pushy and were always polite. The Cafe de Lago at the Grand Mayan was always a good restaurant choice for breakfast or various themed dinners with live music and a wonderful wait staff. The only down side for us, was that the "studio" we had through our RCI exchange, was really a hotel room...lovely, but without the amenities of a mini-kitchen that we are used to from our other studio exchanges. These rooms could benefit by having a refrigerator, coffee-maker, microwave and plates/utensils to make the stay easier for those of us that don't want to eat out for every meal. We did stop at the "Selecto" market on the way to the resort, and because I had read another members review, I knew to purchase a small styrofoam cooler and various food items to get us through some breakfasts, lunches and snack times.
We took a tour of Acapulco..city highlights. It was informative and the view of the harbor from the Chapel of Peace was incredible. One evening we visited the local mall..La Isla and went to the movie theatre there...it was great!
Traveling to Acapulco is not easy..there are no direct flights and going through customs in Mexico City was an exercise in mass chaos...but once we hit the sunny beach, all was forgotten!

My recent trip to Acapulco in November 2012 was so fantastic, I'm probably going to review each and every aspect of it that I can to folks on Trip Advisor because one of the things I did down to the dime is to prepare for this trip. Although my initial desire was to spend my 50th birthday in Miami, I had a change of heart because the election of 2012 took so much out of the US that I wanted to get the heck outta here to enjoy my birthday with friends. So we ventured down to the Grand Mayan Acapulco (5 adults, no children...we weren't sorry either!) and had a blast that could be called "Fall Break for 40+". It was a great and surreal experience. I planned the resort, the tour guide/driver and did my homework on the experience prior to going so that we would have enough funds without blowing our budget pre-holidays and making sure everyone who came had one hellava time, even though it was my and a friend who was with us celebrating birthdays.
THe view of Punta Diamante was just another piece of heaven on this trip. I am so going back here! That's all I can say...

If you are planning to visit Acapulco, you should choose a hotel in Punta Diamante. This area is very safe, with beautiful hotels and great restaurants.
You should not visit the old Acapulco bay, Acapulco Diamante is safer and more beautiful .
In this area you can go for lunch or dinner to La Isla Mall. The restaurants are delicious and the shops beautiful.

Picking a condo on Punta Diamante is a great way to vacation. The ocean will send you into a dreamy sleep every night and during any siesta! The waves are fun and surfers, wind surfers, kite surfers, kite fliers all have lots of air and open space to let go. Boogie and surf boards are available to rent. ATV's can be rented as well as. Respectful vendors pass by to sell their shells, clothes, jewellery, hats and bags. Several restaurants deliver right to your palapa. There are 2 golf courses within a short walk or drive on the other side of the street. Excellent location

This area in Acapulco was one of the most luxurious places I visited while my stay. It was the new Acapulco, with all the high end hotels and shopping plazas, new housing development. You could find a Sam's club, very well stoked I might add, a nice movie theater, and a couple of restaurants along the main boulevard. The beautiful thing about this area was that the beach, it was way cleaner, shallower and more private. You could also find lots of sea food restaurants along the beach past all the apartment complex and hotels. You would have to walk about 300 meters in the sand from the restaurants to swim in the sea.
I do have to add that this section of Acapulco was the one that was hit the worst after the two hurricanes in September 2013. So If you plan to visit Acapulco have in mind that you may still see some wreckage from the hurricanes that struck in this area.

When I first started coming to ACA this was just a hillside with a few houses. Now it is the up and coming area of Acapulco to go for great dining and night life. Some wonderful accommodations as well.

Punta Diamante is the newer section of Acapulco. Away from then loud Clubs and music. It has beautiful beaches. We stayed at the Grand Mayan walked on the beach and got a one hour massage for 20us. I recommend you stay Saturday & Sunday on the Costera than spend a week here.

Open ocean. Good for wave jumping. Waves can get really big. As I have said before. Always keep one eye on the ocean. Here you can walk along the beach, horseback ride or rent an arc. Great sunsets. As always there are vendors selling their goods. As for the non beach diamante: There is a nice outdoor shopping mall next to the convention center. You will also find local restaurants as well. Go localthe good is very tasty. To think 20 years ago none of that existed except for the horseback riding. Have fun☺
