Friendly locals selling their wares (fabrics, purses, arts & woodsy decor, you name it...) and colorful flavors of a huge variety of food made with local spices, traditions and care! One of my favorite non-structured afternoons in Mexico ~ strolling along the Zocalo... Oh, and hey, how can you NOT smile when you say the world Zocalo?!? Doesn't the word... More

We live in Acapulco all winter so we enjoy going to the Zocalo for its boutiques, its restaurants and its live music and flea market. You can just sit there and look at people walking or dancing. There are 2 great restaurants, Mi Piaci and D'Raquel. We go at least twice a week. Do go to the cathedral especialy at... More

Years ago we loved to go to the Zocalo at night and watch the children with their parents strolling and meeting their neighbors, the old men playing checkers; like Old Havana. Very local and very friendly. Beautiful old church for the fisherman of the Bay. But now the tourism has overtaken the Zocalo, and it is no longer the social... More

Acapulco's Zocalo was never one of the best in Mexico but it has some beautiful huge old trees and it used to have a charming bandstand that some idiot saw fit to demolish during the remodelling. The remodelling has not improved anything as it seems to have been left only half finished. The Zocalo continues to be mostly dirty and... More

This is a must see, lots of shops, restaurants and a church. Recently remodeled. Try the rib place or Mi Piace for a meal,

After coming to Acapulco for over 35 years, what a disappointment it was to see the new zocalo. They ripped out the fountains and the gazebo and all of the benches replacing them with fewer benches. Also, there is very little shade now because they took out some trees. The replaced the fountains with a spray park which already doesn't... More

Still a place to see the sites and culture the new remodel falls short of what this location is to be about. A few local vendors are nice but it is over the top now. The replacement of the gazebo for the monstrosity that is there now is mind-boggling.
