About
The now La Paz’ Cultural Center has been reconditioned once again but still keeps its original façade and acoustics. On the right corner of the building, there is a watchtower, built of quarry stone. Exhibitions are held in its corridors and the Patio Forum hosts multidisciplinary events like conferences, book presentations, plays and many other cultural activities. On the walls of the ground floor you can enjoy three beautiful murals made by the Mexican artist Francisco Merino. El Centro Cultural La Paz is located at the intersection of 16 de Septiembre and Belisario Dominguez streets in La Paz´s old downtown. This public building is part of the history of La Paz and also a memory of the man who had it built: the major, Mr. Gaston J. Vive

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a small but important museum. The exhibits have to do with local artists and culture in La Paz. There are three or four main galleries and it is easy to walk through in less than an hour. The museum is free. But please leave a donation to help them keep going. They have clean bathrooms. And they are located just two blocks from the Malecon. sometimes little kids are brought there for a school trip. I highly recommend it.

I love down town (el centro) and have walked it all... The street tacos across the street from the material store Modellos to The Bismark sea food restraunt. both markets are only 2-3 blocks from each other (about 10 blocks off malecon).
The picture shown above is the visitor information centre. Kitty corner to Sears and close to Cafe Gourmet. before Christmas there is a great little outside market from Revolution and Balsario Domingues. Right now I assume Carnival has started!
Go to the building you see here get a free down town map and enjoy the walk the adventure and all the flavours of food of Mexico, refreshing Michocan (fruit blended) waters and the fantastic honest hard working shop keepers that make this such a giving, caring experience.

The people all look others in the eyes and greet them on the street. Mexico and especially La Paz is a great friendly experience. Filled with Amazing People who bring us the way Humanity should be aware of your Community and professional helpful people. shop clothing, textiles, pottery, hand made and blankets off the loom. Walk way behind sears and the Artisian store Kitty corner from (closed for many years) "Hotel Arcos"
where when coming from the west the Malecon street makes a wye in the road. One leads straight past the banks almost directly to the visitors centre. In the center of this are many more local artists who are currently dispaced in January 2019 but a Park is being constructed I can only assume its for street vendors. Enjoy

I liked seeing how they refurbished this old building and are using it for cultural purposes. It's right by everything, so in your walks, drop in and take look!

Vincente told us about the local history as well as general information about the center and history. There are classes for children, they are building a library collection for English and Spanish readers. There is an art gallery and they have plans for many more programs as their budget allows. Highly recommend you drop in and ask for Vincente. He was very informative and helpful.

Historic building with a beautiful red brick exterior. Murals depicting history in courtyard. Small room with pictures and written history of Baja in English and Spanish - very detailed and easy to read. Coffee shop in courtyard.

Looks like an interesting place, but it was always closed. Why close during vacation week? The government bookstore is typical for any federal cultural center.

We were there just before Christmas, and though the market was pretty lame, it was fun to see and enjoy the people.

On 16 de Sepitembre street, which is the ugliest street in La Paz, banks and Sears, a school and silly shops, this old Municipal "Palace" has been restored and spruced up
but serves no purpose really, Expensive book/souvenir shop, hasta la vista!
