I booked a tour with Olanka Travels in February for travel end of July. They were very responsive when they wanted my business, commit to booking with them and making payment. I was getting several emails and texts a day. Due to Covid-19 I have had to cancel the tour, as per their cancellation policy I might add, and requested a refund numerous times via email, text and phone calls, but all in vain. Are we surprised - after all, they have my money now and it was quite a large sum as we were a party of 8 for 7 nights! I wish I hadn't booked at all with Olanka Travels now if I had known how hard it would be to get my money back even though I have cancelled in line with their cancellation policy which is the excuse he gave another customer who had to cancel but was not in line with the cancellation policy! They always seem to find a way to wriggle out of their commitment to avoid issuing refunds once they have your money. They offered me vouchers which I have told them is not feasible already and they should be honouring their own cancellation policy which I adhered to. Any cost incurred at their end should be covered by the 20% they will still hold of my money - Shocking! They finally agreed to a refund in 3 instalments. I received the first one after much chasing and now the second instalment is due there is no contact from them despite the several calls, emails, text messages. Their website is also down now and so if they have gone bust they have stolen my money too! Oh, and by the way - Don't be fooled by the 4.5 google review rating - Some of these are from Olanka's own staff or the tour guides they use! I'd even give zero stars if that was an option for this review.

We found Olanka travel when we were surfing online looking for information about Sri Lanka and trying to find out the best way to organize a trip. We left our request on Olanka site and in a few time got the answer. The agency made us a couple of offers following our requirements. We have chosen the one that was more suitable. We made an advance payment and got all confirmation and detailed information about our trip. The managers were very kind and efficient. They were always in contact with us. It is not any worry with Olanka travel (it is understandable that you can have some concern about the payment in advance directly to the company that stays so far from you..) since it is a serious tour operator. We really spent a nice time, we enjoyed so much our holiday, we are happy to have had this opportunity to visit this beautiful and gorgeous island with open and very friendly people. Olanka travel booked for us good hotels (The excursions you want to do you must pay directly on site) and organized an interesting itinerary that we made along with our driver Kumara, nice and careful guy. we came back to Switzerland full of emotions and desires to come again to This island, there are other parts left to be discovered. We highly recommend to discover Sri Lanka that deserves to be visited and we suggest to use the services of Olanka travel that quickly and well can satisfy your needs. They are professional and pay attention to the clients. You can trust them. We will organize our next trip to this island using the service of Olanka. Ekaterina & Giuseppe (January 2020)

My wife and I completed a 16 day Sri Lankan Tour in Feb/Mar with Olanka Travels. The planning by Nipuni was meticulous and the turnaround on itinerary changes / suggestions to enhance and optimise our time and suit our budget was fast and seamless. Our email exchanges were warm, professional and a pleasure. Nipuni made many changes, at our request, to suit our budget but with compromising the fantastic Sri Lankan experience. On arrival in Colombo we were met by our driver and guide, Kanchana. He was an absolute delight to be with as a safe and dependable driver and a great guide, whether explaining local customs, historical sites or the beautiful mountains and captivating landscapes. I would recommend Kanchana to anyone touring Sri Lanka. Our 16 day tour covered the island through seaside villages to the tea plantations in the highlands and the southern regions. The tour was well paced for us to really enjoy the hospitality of the Sri Lankans, the delicious food and the beauty of the country and spending some days just relaxing and doing our own thing. Our accommodation was amazing with real highlights of our time in the highlands and staying amongst the tea plantations. I had visited Sri Lanka 40 years earlier and always wanted to return and Olanka Travels, particularly Nipuni in the planning and Kanchana in the driving and guiding, certainly ensured that I relived the Sri Lankan experience. It was even better, the second time around !!! Thanks again Olanka Travels - a great, friendly, professional team to deal and meet with and we hope to tour again with you.

February 2019 was when I first sent an enquiry through to Olanka Travels, almost instantly I was contacted & shortly thereafter engaged telephonically by Maheshi Senevirathne, it was then I already realised that we will be in safe & good hands. Coming from Africa with two kids aged 10 years & 12 years I needed a tour package that would be exciting, enjoyable but also relaxing. The final version of the package presented that. Where do we start? Its easy, on the night of the 23rd December we arrived in Colombo ( more like early parts of morning due to delayed flight) and was warmly greeted by Ali our tour guide & accompanied by an Olanka representative and then driven to Negombo in a very comfortable vehicle, that was spotlessly clean packed with water & comfort. During our 10night stay in Sri Lanka, we got to experience Fisherman’s village, the local markets, snorkelling, whale watching, releasing turtles into ocean, swam with turtles that are over 150years old, swam in warmest waters, did some adrenaline filled water sports & stayed in some beautiful places with the best hospitality like the likes of Garton’s Cape, Fairway & Taj Samudra and ate the best seafood & local cuisines. Each day just got better & nothing was ever to much for Ali, his patience & expertise made our day trips extremely fun for us all. We were greeted every morning timeously with the warmest smiles from Ali and always wanting to go over & above & beyond 😊. He gave us the experience of trying local cuisines, some hidden gems of restaurants & also a personal warm welcome to your beautiful country. In the midst of all the beauty we also got to relive the sad day of December 26th & relive the remains of Tsunami as sad as it is, being there where recent history was made left us feeling much empathy. We also got to experience your beautiful Buddha temples & the church that was struck during April attack. Sri Lanka boasts so much & we fell in love with this beautiful country not only by doing all the touristy stuff but by having met such accommodating people like Ali & Pabasara. The culture, people & your country offers a lot & we cant wait to share this with our South African friends & family back home ❤ . Coco Royal accommodation was not satisfactory at all & thanks to efficient Pabasara this was quickly changed. Having had 3 nights scheduled here, we were grateful for this. We also had the opportunity to met & greet Pabasara which to us was a lovely gesture coupled by a lovely gift. My only regret was not doing more homework, after 2 day trips to Hikaduwa we would have loved to have been informed of this gem. However our next trip we now know better. Thank you Olanka/Ali for making this a memorable vacation we will forever remember.
