Quite stunning and impressive.

This castle is impressive and holds its own beauty in its symmetrical architecture. It’s a bit run down, but it certainly wasn’t busy. Climb the many steps and enjoy the view.

Beautiful park
Aug. 2016 • Couples
We stopped in at this park on recommendation from friends. We needed a place to stretch the legs after a long drive. We did not visit the museum but enjoyed strolling the grounds, very beautiful. The park is well maintained with a stunning mountain backdrop. There is a lot of wildlife to see including deer, geese, swans, ducks & trout. A great place to explore or relax with a picnic.

Pleasant park, interesting museum
Jul. 2016 • Solo
The Museum of the French Revolution is located in the impressive chateau. Strictly speaking it is more an art gallery with items relevant to the revolution rather than a museum telling the story or offering interpretation of the events of the revolution so unless you already know about it you will probably not learn a great deal from a visit. Having said that there are some impressive and large paintings and various other items and the period rooms on the upper floor are worth seeing in their own right. The view from the balcony is pleasant. The Domaine is a large park - some nice flowers and water features, sculptures and animals (though I did not see these as I did not have time and the park is quite large). It is nothing especially outstanding but is a very pleasant and scenic location. Access from Grenoble is easy - bus 3000 stops outside, Express 3 terminates at the other end of town no more than 5 minutes or so from the entrance. Journey time about 45 mins. Services are fairly regular and Vizille is in the urban zone (TAG day ticket 5 euros on a OURA card). The route to Vizille is on the Route Napoleon but is for the most part not especially scenic - lots of eastern European style flats in the suburbs! A nice way back is on TAG route 69 via the spa town of Uriage (limited frequency - a zone B ticket is need to get off in Uriage but not to pass through. You end up at Groble university from where a tram goes into the city centre.

Museum of French Revolution
Jul. 2015 • Friends
A must for students of the French Revolution. Set in the castle amidst the beautiful parc vizille it provided genuine insight into the Revolution. Free entry. The first room has a series of plates with motifs celebrating the early events of the Revolution. A great insight into the ordinary nature of the revolution. Then there were paintings, artifacts, sculptures of the French Revolution. Also a chair from the National Assembly It was great

Interesting and beautiful

While the Castle was having repairs on our visit, the Museum of the French Revolution was open. The Museum is free and very interesting even though our French is limited we were still able to appreciate the history. The surrounding Park and Gardens looked stunning...although again we did not get to appreciate all that was on offer as much was closed. As a side trip to Grenoble it was well worth the visit.

It's a perfect place for family, because it's ideal for children that wanted to have fun or for discovering the nature with entertainment. The visit of the domaine is also very good for discovering History, for taking advantage of a quite place, or just for a friend's trip!

A place full of charms

The Domaine of Vizille is organised around a magnificent castle of the 17th century and a lovely park. Located 15km from the city of Grenoble, the Domaine of Vizille reveals an incredible surprise to its visitors, who didn't expect such a majesty place !
The walls contain actually a huge and beautiful park crossed by a large canal. Full of romantic nooks, the park has a large walk through streams, waterfalls, woodlands, gardens and wildlife park. A place full of charms, perfect for romantic walks and or picnic with family !
The Castle of Vizille is a birthplace of the French Revolution, where the States of Dauphiné claimed the meeting of the General States of the kingdom. The castle now houses an excellent museum of the Revolution which I recommend to all Hisory lovers !
Note that the park and the museum are free.
