Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Short walk from the road to this small beach area (one of the very few beaches in Nuie). Enjoyable reef walk around with plenty of small schools of blue fish and sea cucumbers)

The "easy" access track was destroyed by the cyclone's huge waves ... now only accessible to "mountain goats" ... most of the sandy beach was washed out ... Hio has not lost its stark beauty though ... nature will heal

A beautiful and quiet spot for relaxing and cool down by lying on your back or on your tummy. There is no deep part to swim. This place has sand and good for photography of a romantic couple. Wedding can be hosted at this place too.

Too rocky at low tide to swim. Be great for little children then though as it seems a safe wee cove. Has a cafe at the top which is nice.

A beach in Niue with sand! Yay! Lovely to swim in with great snorkeling at low tide. Plus it’s right next to a gorgeous café for after swim coffee and cake.

The beach appears in a low tide but if you catch it a couple of hours either side of the tide, you get a decent swim as well. We renamed it Butterfly Cove due to the huge number of them flying around. Just a few steps down from the Hio Cafe. Enjoy....

Hio Beach is one of very few sandy beaches on Niue. We went swimming here recently and thought it a lovely spot. Quite an easy access , also very handy to the great Hio Cafe!

the best beach and cafe combo out of all the options on the island (Utuko/crazy Ugas & Tamakautoga/Oki Oki) fab food, great sunsets, lovely sand and the same great snorkelling as everywhere on Niue :) family friendly and a great time had by the 5 year old both on the sand and at the Cafe.

Another lovely little bay with short walk to access it. Nice to actually sit on some sand rather than rock and nice place to snorkel at the right tide.
