Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went with family here for morning out, we are English and they were very helpful and provided a translator to help us upstand the history. Beautiful building and lovely exhibition in the Chappel.
The gardens were stunning and really well kept.

I love this theater - I also saw plays here too - was the Abbaye's refectory turned into stadium theater. Great prices and current movies.

We spent a very happy morning wandering around this beautiful abbey.
The art exhibition in the chapel literally stopped everyone in their steps with a gasp. (I won’t give away the surprise)
The gardens are beautiful. They are clearly a work in progress.
The guides were superb and incredibly friendly. They deliberately spoke slow French, using simple words, so we Brits could understand.
The history behind this museum is fascinating.

We followed the signs to the abbey and passed a large medieval church but entrance to the abbey was further along the road and the entrance fee €5-90 per person. The first room might have been a cloister at some time but was now completely enclosed and had no connection with the church. It was also full of jumble. We were then taken into what had been a refectory but now a cinema. Next a large room with four fire places which we were told had been divided into four cells for the monks; rather luxorious living and far from the monastic spirit, I thought.
Upstairs (not accessible for people with mobility problems) was the museum which consisted of a number of locked rooms which the guide unlocked individually and relocked, so there was no opportunity to browse. The display of these items was very poor and they certainly needed some careful attention and proper curating. It really was a disgrace to call this a museum: if you wish to see a museum with similar artifacts, visit Airvault where the items are properly displayed with good information, well cared for and you can wander around in your own time; furthermore it is quite free to enter. On this tour there was a box asking for contributions for the guide on the way out. The church was not part of the visit even though there is a photograph of it on the front of the guide book and another inside. This suggests the church is part of the tour and not to include it is tantamount to fraud and certainly misleading

Unmissable monument of Bourgueil, the abbey listed in the historical monument is to be visited and I recommended it.
