Dixon Hill Lighthouse offers a spectacular view not only from the top of back in the history of San Salvador as well. The lighthouse is still operational and was recently painted. It is in very good shape.

With a decent road, by Bahamian standards, it's easy to access the property. Unsure whether we were allowed to enter the Lighthouse, we didn't, so we took in the views of the island and ocean, a lovely sight indeed. The two nearby houses, in a...More

Make sure to climb to the top - awesome view. Take a look at the manual mechanism for rotation and the beautiful lens.

We got to walk up the narrow steps of the lighthouse. Then we took some pictures of this very unspoiled area. Honestly it was good to leave the hotel and get a real San Salvador Vibe of island.

I've been to this lighthouse at least two times. It has been open both times and provides a complete view of the island which one might not otherwise except maybe from the plane bringing you to the island.

2 years after Joaquin the little houses on each side of the lighthouse are still in disarray. It takes so much effort to bring an island back. Other pic is 1st Catholic Church view from the lighthouse.

Have been a few times over 25 years. Unfortunately much storm damage to surrounding buildings. This was a plantation before the lighthouse was built. Very interesting stop.

Neat opportunity to climb up 80-some steps in this working lighthouse. Interesting view from the top to see much of the island. Not much to see beyond this as the road continues on to the east side of the island.

This was really interesting. You are able to walk right in, climb all the way up and walk around the outside upper walkway. Really windy up there. The view is really beautiful. What's really interesting though is to get a close up view of the...More

We took a private tour to the lighthouse. Went inside and climbed all the way to the top. So worth it! the views were amazing! We could see the entire island!
