Bring a small cooler with drinks and lunch, sit on top of this work of art, and absorb your surroundings. The dedication, time and effort it took to construct this compound, by one barefoot, lone man is an incredible feat. I want to go back at night, and watch the stars from there!

It's a lovely hike up to the Monastery. The story of the monk who wanted a place to live out his life after retirement is interesting. This is a small venue, worth seeing. It won't take a lot of time, but it's fun to go there. For Catholics, the site has the "Stations of the Cross" if one is inclined... More

A fun little hike up to this historical site where vistas of both coasts are seen. . If you only have time to do ONE thing on the island, it should be this.

Just off the main road near the fish fry in Old Bight, a curious miniature chapel. A short uphill walk from the little carpark area brings you to this fascinating place. See what you make of it!!

Excellent spot to visit you can appreciate the frugal life that Farther Jerome lived and and the imagine how difficult it must have been to build this place.

It is a lovely walk with a good view of the island. The structure is quite interesting with a very spiritual feel

While it's difficult to leave the beach while visiting Cat Island, you should take a few hours to visit the Hermitage. It's worth the short hike up the hill to see this piece of history, and the views of the Island from its highest point are amazing.

Amazing workmanship. Smaller than you'd think, but a labor of love, to be sure. The stations of the cross are pretty cool. If you go during the week you'll have the place to yourself. Highest point on the island (which isn't saying much)

The front route is a bit steep but go round the back for an easy route. Better on a dry day as wee bit muddy if its been raining. The views from the top are great.

A cool, small structure with stunning views of Cat Island. Definitely take the walk up the more direct route with illustrations of Christ's journey to crucifixion. Given the lack of real cultural attractions for Cat Island, this might be your only chance while there!
