I attended an Art Auction recently in aid of a young man recently killed in Nassau; the studio was beautifully arranged with portraits offering commentary on a dangerous issue (Speeding in the harbour) that lead to the death of Mr. Turnquest. There was a dark room specific to paintings that illuminated when the lights were turned off and that intrigued... More

I think someone told me that "Doongalik" is the sound of some large musical wind instrument, possibly a didgeridoo, but what that has to do with The Bahamas I have no idea! Anyway, it's a beautiful place to see both outside and inside. (Check out their web site to see what I mean.)The art displays are often dedicated to a... More

Worth the visit as even the grounds are decorated with original sculptures. Mrs Burnside graciously allowed me to visit the studio after it was due to close as I had been delayed getting there. Thanks again so much!

Founded by one of the preeminent Junkanoo artists on the island, this gallery was a very sweet surprise and I enjoyed learning about the origins of Junkanoo.

The best way to describe this place is as a collection of culture. It is designed like a rural Bahamian village - quiet and surrounded by lush scenery on all sides, with little quaint buildings along a stone path. There are also some very unique and very distinctly Bahamian sculptures being displayed outside and it's a really nice touch. Being... More

The art on display is unique and striking. There was also a special exhibit on elephants and their plight. All of the work was easy on the eyes, but that artist, in particular, created works of beauty that were soulful and introspective. While the artwork was too expensive for us, we still enjoyed our tour very much. Make it a... More

I would thoroughly recommend visiting this delightful art studio and shop in Village Road. The gallery is run by Pam Burnside who personally showed us around the art work. Next to it is a craft shop. It is unlike any other Bahamian shop which sells Bahamian crafts. The studio itself is set in a lovely garden and sells an amazing... More

We were staying on Paradise Island and discovered Doongalik by accident as we went through the Marina Village centre. We were lucky enough to meet Pam burnside (wife of Jackson Burnside a prominent local artist) who told us all about the art they had in their store as well as the various art related activities happening. She is knowledgeable about... More
