Goodman’s Bay was the first beach we visited on Nassau. We took the #10 bus from our Airbnb. There is a clean restroom and some locals offering jetskis and beach chairs. A woman also sells hot dogs in the parking lot but otherwise there is no food available at the public access to Goodman’s Bay. It’s the other side of Cable Beach and the water was clean and the beach was reasonably clean. We did not feel hassled by anyone. We did rent some chairs and there are a few peddlers on the beach but mostly left us alone. For food, we ended up walking down to the Baha Mar where they had one burger food truck (Unami) which accepted cash and credit cards. The burgers (both beef and vegetarian) were decent but definitely over-priced. If you want to enjoy this beach you should bring your own food and drink. There is construction (cranes, etc.) going on at the east end of the beach which, frankly, made the overall beach view less pleasant. However, there is ample shade and a large park behind it so still a decent spot to throw down your towel. Since then we have also visited Junkanoo and Cabbage Beach and we prefer the east end of Cabbage beach as our top beach so far.

This was an average beach, that the locals use to provide water rides, drinks and chairs. We originally wanted to go to Cable Beach out of Baha Mar Beach Resort, there is one little road access to get to Cable Beach and we may try there at some point, but we were here anyways so parked and stayed. There is plenty of parking and two entrances, one has bathrooms. We have a family of 6, 2 of which were my 80 year old parents and it was easy for them to get to the beach. We rented lounged chairs for them, $10 pp, and $20 for an umbrella, however there is plenty of shade here. The water is roped off most likely so the water sports do not enter the swimming area. This is an average beach, no snorkeling, and they drop off cruise ship patrons here- which was the majority of the people on the beach. The water is beautiful blue like most of the beaches on this side of the island, and it was fairly clean. Rated this beach average, nothing spectacular but nice.

Take it from someone who lived in Nassau for years, this is a great local beach. Catch the number 10 bus from Downtown and go there.
Local food and drinks there. Safe beach and you can walk to the new hotel complex if you like.
Take your own towels. Beach is calm for swimming.

We left our cruise ship and took the bus to Goodmans Bay. It was a craZy ride but we made it there. Took a taxi back to port. We absolutely loved the beach. We saw 4 star fish while snorkeling! It was the perfect day and I can’t wait to return!

This is my favourite beach that we have visited during our trip to New Providence Island. It’s clean and there’s lots of space. We go to the beach that is accessed from the eastern parking lot. It’s quiet and there are shade trees. There’s also a playground for children and a large, grassy area The west side parking lot has washrooms close to the beach.

The great part about Goodman's Bay is that it's quiet. It's just before all the resorts on Cable Beach, and you can get to it on the bus (take note, cruise travelers - it's just 2 miles past Junkanoo) . There are a couple of vendors selling drinks/chips but they won't bother you if you don't want anything. The water is calm, so you can swim in it, and there's plenty of natural shade from the trees. We went twice during our week in Nassau.

Take a book and a beach towel and the time will fly by with no interuptions. The waves are gentle for swimming if you need a break from reading. There are shaded areas, benches along the sea, a playground for children, and only one single stationary respectful vendor. We could not see any loose trash anywhere. The 10 bus with a ticket of $1.25 stops right at the beach area for those of us who do not use a car.

While in port on a cruise, we wanted to find a beach where we wouldn't be bombarded with peddlers and people so we looked up Goodman's Bay and grabbed a quick cab ride over. The beach is only 5-7 minutes from the port and it's absolutely beautiful. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves because it's not as popular as other beaches like saunders beach and others. We loved playing the water and laying in the sand. We then walked down the beach to the Grand Hyatt, which is absolutely stunning. Overall, it was a great beach and one we would gladly recommend if you are looking for something away from the crowd.

We took a cab to Cable Beach and the driver dropped us at Goodman’s Bay for public access to the beach. It was absolutely beautiful with very few people, trees for shade, soft sand and crystal clear water. You can easily walk about 2 minutes down towards the resorts for restrooms and food vendors, but the beach gets more crowded the further you get towards the resorts. Chef Jackie sells traditional food out of her car on the beach, and her chicken was amazing. You can rent an umbrella for $20 and chairs for $15, but we just laid on our beach towels in the shade. One piece of advice: our cab from the port (for 6 people) cost $35. We took the bus back to the cruise port. It took about 10 minutes and was $1.25 a person. The bus was much easier and the patrons were very friendly. Absolutely take the #10 bus to the beach and back. Do not bother with a taxi.

Are chairs and umbrellas available to rent? Our cruise stops in Nassau for a day in early December
Written 15 August 2022
Thank you for the info! How much was the taxi approx??

I will be in Nassau in a couple of weeks on a cruise and am looking for a nice beach that has chair/umbrella rentals available as well as restrooms and food/beverage availability. I am wondering if I will find this at Goodman's Bay/Cable Beach. If not, what would be my best option? Thanks
Written 9 September 2019
Sorry for the delayed answer, but at Goodman's does not have any facilities other than a couple of local snack carts. You will have to bring anything you want. Cable Beach you can probably find a hotel that will rent you these things, but maybe pricey. Junkanoo caters to cruise customers and has all of these things, but, frankly, not as nice a beach. Atlantis has a daypass option and their beach is fully stocked (but busy and $$$). There are a couple other places along Cabbage Beach that may also rent, but I don't know.

Can you rent lounge chairs, umbrellas and is there a public restroom?
Written 11 March 2019
I didn't see any of those things in that direct area, but there hotels if you walk a bit, though probably some of them will not let you use their bathroom. We just brought towels and snacks with us.
