Among the major beaches on the north shore of St. John, Hawksnest Beach offers some of the best snorkeling. it is a beautiful beach although it does not compare to Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay in that respect. Nevertheless, it still has quite a bit of live coral, especially large and beautiful stag horn coral. So it offers very good... More

Hawknest is another one of St. John's north shore beautiful beaches with crystal waters and white sand. It is closest to town so I imagine it can get crowded but we got there at 10am and didn't have a problem parking. The waves were coming in the day were went so we didn't stay long. The waves were relatively gentle... More

This beach has the fine white sand and the pool blue waters and a bit of snorkeling right up close. Plus, the seagrapes are a lovely place to escape the burning rays of the Caribbean sun. If you intend to sleep on the beach, please do so in the shade. Nothing can ruin a vacation like a bad burn.

Beautiful white beaches and calm water for small children. Limited shady area when the tide is in. Parking close to the beach for carrying chairs.

LOVED this beach. It is a MUST see, not exactly ideal for snorkelers but if you're just looking for a free beach to kick your feet up and relax, this is the beach for you! Soft white powdery sand, like almost all of the island.

Crystal clear water like the other beaches but not a very wide beach. Nice for small quaint wedding. Wedding pictures are spectacular from this beach. Taxi's can be hard to get when leaving because usually full on way back to Cruz Bay.

I spent some time at Hawksnest Beach enjoying the views. The hike to the beach is not too difficult, but like all others would recommend sturdy shoes rather than flip-flops. The beach is smaller and less crowded than others at Trunk and Cinnamon Bays, but with the same great views and sand. While you will share the beach with others,... More

Close to town. Nice beach with great shade too. You can find your own little spot to hang your bags and lay in the sun or shade. Enjoy...it's a little piece of heaven!

This is beautiful but have good footwear. The hike is difficult. The view is great but difficult to get too. The rocks are hard to walk on so take your time.

Another great National Park beach. Close to Cruz Bay with parking, restrooms and picnic pavilions. The beach is narrow at high tide and the surf can be rough when the wind is from the North. It is also popular with the locals on weekends.
