Last day, wanted close beach to get some sun and snorkel. The snorkeling was ok, but we did see a pretty big stingray hovering near the beach...facilities ok, no trouble grabbing a taxi, even though no stand per se. Wouldn Y make this my first choice but nice quie, breeze and small waves.

Why do I give it a 4 instead of 5 stars?... it has changing facilities but no bathrooms. Has picnic area. The beach is being devoured by the sea so it has a slope, dune like. The sea floor is uneven beware of sudden drops. Will see many diverse acuatic creatures, specially manta rays of all colors. Quiet beach right... More

Any of the beaches on Hawksnest Bay are fantastic. The water is clear and calm and there is good snorkeling accessible close to the shore. Not nearly as crowded as Cinnamon Bay or Maho. Ample parking is available as well. If you're feeling adventurous, try Little Hawksnest, Oppenheimer or Gibney Beach, which are all within the Bay.

Hawksnest Beach is the first beach you drive to on North Shore road. Plenty of parking, but get there early. Great snorkeling and smooth sandy beach. The sun glimmers on the azure blue waters that make it so inviting to go in. This is a National Park Beach which is maintained daily. However, the bathrooms are not great and you... More

Clean and not crowded! Water was super clear and snorkeling was fantastic. The views are breathtaking as well. Short cab ride from Cruz Bay, about $5/per person. Try to take a cab that is rather full so that you get a cheaper fare.

We hadn't been back to St John in a few years. We went to this beach after we settled into our airbnb. Its nice an small not crowded. Its pretty sheltered so the viability was good even though there was a small swell running.

Get there before 10:00 AM. The tour start coming in then. This is an unusual spot for there is sand and coral formations. So you can get in and out of the water easily. The view is fantastic.

And with small children, that is a big plus as you haul all your gear for the day. They have toilets that may or may not be unlocked. Pretty gross latrines however when you do get in. It does get waves but water at shore can be a bit of rocky area.

A great beach, a bit of a step to access water. Sea grapes for shade. Parking lot, pavilions and toilet. A good beach for viewing fish in the middle reef. Can be very busy.
