Best Snorkeling so far

It's well worth the 15 minute walk. This was by far the best snorkeling I have experienced on the Island.

If you are into snorkeling and want to avoid the crowds, this beach is a must. It's a bit of a hike to get there, but the path is level and has plenty of shade. You can swim with turtles and rays at the initial stretch of the beach or hike out to the far point and snorkel over to... More

We snorkeled out to the cay. You need to be a fairly confident swimmer to get there. Beautiful coral! Very good snorkeling along the beach also.

Waterlemon Cay is a trek to get to but but well worth your effort.Once at the beach visitors have a choice to trek further up the trail or swim about .5 miles to the Cay. Please know that you should snorkel around the island in a counter clockwise direction or you will fight currents the entire time. The back side... More

This is a pretty spot, but if you want a "beach" to relax on or aren't up for a long hike then go elsewhere. If you want to be out in nature and don't want the crowds, this is your place. It's almost a mile walk to get to there. It's an easy walk through the mangroves. The termite nests... More

This is one of the best spots on the island for snorkeling. There is NO BEACH and you have to hoof it a bit to get to the right spot but its worth it. Park at the sugar plantation ruins and begin the approx 1-mile trek to the rock outcrop across from Waterlemon Cay. You have to swim the channel... More

Did the walk out and back ( eventually ). We stopped about half way and did some snorkeling and it was not great ( ok though ). We decided to do the full hike and made it out to the Far east end and the snorkeling was great! Saw a ton of colorfull fish. Did not make it out to... More

Waterlemon Cay is a nice place to go snorkeling. One can snorkel around the small Cay. The best area is the side towards the channel as there is coral there and more fish. We have seen a reef shark on this snorkel. Note that there is a current on the outside of the Cay. The direction it is flowing depends... More

We hiked there down from the Centerline Drive bus stop after visiting the Annaberg Ruins. Pack light, it's a bit of a walk! Hoping for a sandy beach to relax on all day (that's what our guides told us), we were disappointed to find only rocky strips along the mangroves. Nevertheless we dropped our stuff and swam out to the... More

Great snorkeling, great water clarity, great little hike. Whenever I get to St. John I wind up visiting the Anneberg Sugar Plantation and take the short hike to Waterlemon Cay. It's fun because it usually is deserted. There really is no beach to hang out on. I go there for the snorkeling and short swim out to the cay. This... More
