The most accessible and best preserved of its type, this once-working sugar plantation (circa 1870) was the site of boiling molasses and hardworking slaves harvesting sugarcane, and which now offers visitors regular tours and living-history demonstrations.

This was a stop on our own drive around the island and i am so glad we did. There was so much history we just had no clue about. The gardener was there and took us around his garden and gave us samples of sugar...More

There is more to most of the Caribbean Islands than beaches. This former slave operated sugar mill is well documented. The remaining buildings are nice and comfortably cool to wonder through. There are some commanding views from the summit.

I highly recommend making a visit to the Annaberg ruins if you're on St. John. It's easiest to get to if you have a vehicle. Taxis do go here, but not frequently, so you would want to make arrangements with a taxi driver to either...More

The ruins are beautiful and informative. The plaques to read really help you get a feel for St. JOhn's history. This is a beautiful place for a photo op of Leinster Bay.

Yes. Actually you can only do self guided tours. Park at the lot or in the side of the road and take the stairs up. Half an hour will do. Bring snorkelling gear and do Marys Creek which is in front of the parking lot, where... More

yes.. however.. just think of it like this.. for many people this place is like Auchswitz.. people were murdered, raped and worked to death in this place. If you wouldn't carve your name into the wall at a Nazi death camp... More
