I've visited Cyfartha Castle numerous times over the last 10 years. The museum is excellent and worth visiting. The splash park is very popular in good weather and the train ride is worthwhile. I recommend a picnic on the grass and walking around the lake and the gardens. Well maintained and good for several hours of entertainment.

The grounds are lovely and could not fault a thing. The castle on the otherhand looked far more imposing and bigger in pictures! Worth a visit if you are passing however I would not advise going out of your way for it.

We had a couple of hours to spend in Wales before heading home. We decided to pop into Cyfarthfa Castle - actually it's just a large house. Not much of it is open to the public, but the rooms they have open and what they have displayed in them, portrays a lot of interesting histroy about Merthyr Tydfil and the... More

Never been here before... what a lovely place especially in the thick of Autumn! The castle itself was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour which for £2 is fab. The staff at the gift shop are lovely and the lady behind the counter treated my little boy to a bag of sweets which I thought was so kind. The... More

Myself and my children came to the event for Halloween activities. I am shocked I have never been here before, it was a pleasure to visit. On arrival the staff were very welcoming at reception and for myself and 5 children it only cost £2 for myself. There was a fab art and museum which was very educational but even... More

This was our first visit to Cyfarthfa Castle and we weren't sure what to expect but it had been recommended to us so thought we would visit as the weather wasn't suitable for walking in the Brecon Beacons. On our arrival we found parking plentiful and the castle staff helpful and were given advice regarding where everything was so as... More

Cyfarthfa castle up until 2014 was both a museum and a school... I attended school here and thoroughly enjoyed every minute, the school eventually closed as it was in disrepair as 99% of features including most desk , radiators and some toilets were original, the round library hosted the music room. The flooring and tiles throughout the building was that... More

Called to the park on Sunday and had a coffee in the castle cafe. The museum is always worth a look, I spent hours in there as a child. We had a walk in the woods and down to the lake, the park is particularly beautiful this time of year, when the trees are changing colour. The railway was closed,... More
