We took a flavors of st thomas food tour and had no idea where the heck we were going. LOL but we went down this street and it was cool. you have to look beyond the shops and see the architecture behind it. very old buildings and very pretty if you can see past the signage and 100 jewlery stores.

This is just that, the back street. It is the street behind the buildings along the waterfront. In between the two streets are countless shops and stores, some of which connect from both streets and many of which you can only get to from one street or the other. However, there are additional shops on the other side of the... More

It is more shops and stores, mostly local in old buildings. It would be much better if you were not constantly harassed by business people to "come in and take a look". The first few I gave pleasant responses to, it became less pleasant as it went on.

Look at the stock photo for this site. Most of it looks like this. Narrow street, don't try walking it. Wasn't impressed.

You think the vendors on Main Street are aggressive, wait until you get to Back Street. I understand that they're trying to make a living but I'm just not that desperate of a shopper. I was site seeing! Best to stay on Front Street and then work your way in. Avoid this area at all cost unless you're a serious... More

The food here is usually phenomenal, if you're looking for local west indie food this is the right place be. But today the food AND service was terrible. I ordered conch with veg and cabbage, the conch was chewy and there was more onions than conch. The veg looked like something I could have done at home, there were more... More

The downtown area of Charlotte Amalie is not just tourist shopping. There is also much history. Old buildings have been saved and turned into local use such as restaurants. Back Street is one such area. The area houses one of the best local restaurants, Cuzzin's. You can find all things local to eat there. Another West Indian restaurant, Trenchtown Rock,... More

Great atmosphere, good drinks & WIFI. Also this little bar was ran by friends of one of our travelers, she attended college with them in the Midwest. Service & food was good too.

There are some shuttered buildings and a few stores but really not much to see here. If you want to get away from the crowds during the day it's fine.
