Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visitors are welcome for Sunday service. The church was open through the week as well. Around 80 were in attendance the Sunday we visited. It was a "light" 60 minute service in a beautiful light-filled, breezy sanctuary. Worth a visit for everyone needing a bit of reflection amidst the shopping, eating and sight-seeing of Charlotte Amalie.

The St Thomas Reformed Church (formerly called the Dutch Reformed Church) is on the corner of Crystal and Nye, about three blocks in from the Waterfront. The sanctuary was severely damaged in 1995 by Hurricane Marilyn, and was rebuilt largely with the help of volunteers from the states. The congregation has been meeting continuously for 362 years - one of the oldest continuously meeting congregations in North America. The current building is actually the fourth location in St Thomas. The sanctuary is worth a visit, although unfortunately, it is not open to visitors on weekdays. Visitors are more than welcome to attend worship at 9AM on Sundays. The Reformed Church of America (to which this congregation belongs) is best known for its partnership with the Presbyterian Church). Worship is traditional, and scripturally based. All are welcome!

Not a church goer, I wandered into a service at the St. Thomas Reformed Church and can honestly say it was a highlight of my vacation. The church is lovely with white plantation shutters,
ceiling fans and simple decor. The service led by Pastor Jeffrey is uplifting and in touch with today's world. If you have a chance, visit this holy place.

We were in St. Thomas for Palm Sunday and wanted to find a tradtional place of worship. We went to a 9am service at the Dutch Reformed Church and were so glad we went. Not only was it a beautiful setting, the people in the congregation were very warm and freindly. The pastor gave a very interesting sermon and throughout the service he was very comical. We thoroughly enjoyed the worship service there and wished we lived closer so we could come back more often.

While vacationing in St. John VI, I found this beautifully restored old church that had an inviting building and sanctuary! Being associated with the Reformed Church in America, which is known for being the oldest existing denomination in The United States, it didn't surprise me to learn that this church, with Dutch Reformed ties to the Netherlands, was also one of the oldest congregations (church) in the Virgin Islands! It is a two story sanctuary with an open-air worship experience; "open air" in that the large double door window shutters are wide open during the service. You can actually hear chickens, roosters, and other "birds of the feather" singing and clucking while the organ is playing and songs are being sung! It is painted in a nice white paint which accents the wood and carpeting leading down the main isle to the front of the church. Fluted pillars are visible from the first floor to the second which rise to support the upper surrounding chancel sides and rear of the balcony area. The congregation is warm and friendly and you will be made to feel very welcome as a visitor; as will your children! While we were on St. John and St. Thomas for a two week stay, my wife became seriously ill and had to be taken to the emergency room for care. Pastor Jeff Neevel made it a point to visit and pray with us while we were in the waiting room and he even went the extra mile in making a car available to us, or a place to stay if we couldn't make our flight home! Great church, great pastor, great people; why not plan on worshipping with them if on St. Thomas? They are only three blocks from the water front on the corner of Nye Gade & Crystal Gade in downtown Charlotte Amalie. The Sunday morning service starts at 9:00 AM with coffee afterwards. So stop in and try something new in a place that is very old in history, and filled with lots of spirit!

St Thomas's is a beautiful building just off the main shopping area. Not open while we were there so couldn't go inside, but externally this is an immaculatly maintained building, I love the four pillars on the entrance side, reminds me of ancient Greek/Roman structures, stunning.

What a wonderful, loving community in St.Thomas! Welcoming us - a group on a Mission trip from NYC - in their house of worship as well as their private homes, a tight knit community made up of original islanders and lots of folks who chose this island to live - truly they weathered the storms together and came out a better, stronger community.

We had a wonderful Sunday morning service at this church. Pastor Jeff Neevel preached a great message and engaged not only the adults but the children. The worship music and specials throughout the service were a blessing and I truly left feeling uplifted and encouraged. The church building itself was stunning.

For a true original feeling and experience of what bygone days in the settling of St. Thomas must have been like, attending a Sunday worship service will suffice.
Each Sunday at 10 am the large wooden shutters of the Dutch Reformed are thrown open wide letting the Caribbean sunshine in and welcoming the faithful to a service full of beautiful music and song.
The church is one of the oldest structures on the island and located at Nye and Kristeal Sts., behind the Tag Heuer watch shop on Main St.
