- EqwaOrlando, Florida119 contributionsGo to Mountain TopSip a banana daiquiri while you browse the massive gift shop, or take your drink on to the observation deck while you marvel at the most gorgeous view of Magens Bay and neighboring Islands (like Hans Lollik and Thatch Cay). We visited on a rainy day but we got to Mountain Top in time to enjoy the view before the rain fell. We have visited on sunny days as well, and the view is breathtaking. Our kids enjoyed the non alcoholic banana daiquiri and picked out souvenirs for their friends and teachers. Other beverages are also available for sale (beer, liquor, and sodas). Altogether, we loved it.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 November 2023
- Sydney SloneColumbus, Ohio22 contributionsA MUST SEE!!A must stop!! Wonderful view with all the souvenirs you could ever want. Truly breathtaking with informative signs. Banana daiquiri was good. It was kept clean and was well organized. The staff was nice and helpful. Parking for non-taxis is at the top.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 19 December 2023
- Becky SCrozet, Virginia161 contributionsHave the daiquiriWe were last here 40 years ago. It’s grown. While somewhat touristy, the banana daiquiri and view are legit. We got the small daiquiri and felt it. The staff was friendly and we bought some souvenirs in an uncrowded environment. The gelato outside was yummy. Worth the tripVisited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 February 2024
- New England girl18 contributionsAmazing View VisitStaying on St Thomas with a few other couples we decided to venture to Mountain Top for a visit. We have a rental car and it was definitely a drive Up and Up but the view was more than worth the effort as it was spectacular. You walk through the gift shop to the deck/viewing area and there is a nice bar set up in the back before you step out. The gift store is one of the biggest and best organized one I have ever shopped in. It was a bit pricey, but no more so than what is usual for these things. Oh and the banana daiquiri’s? As good if not even better than the view! I recommend you make the effort to go.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 11 April 2024
- Ryan B41 contributionsWe went for the view and got so much more.We went for the view and got so much more. As you walk into the store you will see tons of souvenirs. Everything is very well organized and there are lots of options. We picked up a few things but, it was really there for the Banana Daiquiris and the view, and they did not disappoint. You can see so much from their patio, different islands and even some local wildlife (iguanas in the trees below). I would highly recommend going there for the experience and the Daiquiris.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 June 2024
- Aaron HKilleen, Texas2 contributionsGreat view. Take the taxi.World Famous for the Daiquiri and the Mountain top view. Yes I think it should be famous, it is so beautiful. The turquoise waters and white sands of Magens Bay Beach from the Mountain Top view can not be missed. I loved the Transformer statues, the craftsmanship it must have taken to make those, just amazing!Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 1 July 2024

We visited mountaintop yesterday around past noon. We didn't want to miss out so we decided to drop by before our flight back home. The woman making the drinks was very unfriendly. I asked which side of the bar I have to order as she moved back and forth and she replied in an annoyed manner. The line was not long but moving slow and people from behind me were already complaining. We just had smoothies from Lilika before heading to this place so I ordered just one virgin (no rum) daiquiri with the souvenir bottle for my son out of curiosity on how "the world's famous banana daiquiri" tastes like. We paid her $15 cash and didn't ask for the $2 change. My son liked the slushy. For me it was average as I have tried a variety of flavors back in the NY metropolitan area (Jamba Juice, etc.) The taste was not probably justified without the rum in it. Now the disappointing part, after we finished the drink I asked the woman if she could rinse the bottle before I store it, she refused saying she was busy (again with an unpleasant tone of voice). I saw her rinse the bottles for people before me (3 to 5 seconds) and she even put them in a bag, but she won't do it for me. She told me I have to rinse it in the bathroom. Lady, if the sink was outside and is easily accessible, I would do it myself so I won't have to bother you. I think it's gross to rinse it in the bathroom as the lip of the glass would touch the rim of the sink, the bathroom was old and the faucets are those short-type ones where there is very little room to even wash your hands under the running water. So then I just asked her to at least give me a bag, and again she gave me an attitude I've never seen/heard from a local during my whole stay in the island. She sounded like I can't get one because I have to pay for the bag and quickly grabbed a clear protective plastic that she pulled out from one of the bottles and tossed it to my direction. Lady, in the place where I live in the USA, it's true that we pay for the bag, but it does not cost us a fortune, not really a big deal. You can charge me for the bag, no problem. In my opinion, you do not represent the USVI locals which for my short stay, I have observed to be gentle-spirited. You are the complete opposite by how you treated me. Going back, we got great deal souvenirs from the mountaintop shop (bags are free), fantastic view, but very bad experience.

We drove to this location high on St Thomas after reading it was the original home of the banana daiquiri. We were anticipating and looking forward to an authentic Caribbean style bar. What this is is an absolutely gigantic tee shirt shop with a bar (that has no seats) at the back of the store where you can order an extremely forgettable drink in a plastic cup. All I could think was that this is a place that cruise ships offer paid excursions to for inexperienced travelers. Oh and there are animatronic talking pirates out front too which makes the experience feel even more like some sad tee shirt store on International Drive in Orlando.

Mountain Top had unobstructed views of beautiful Magens Bay Beach, Saint John, and some of the British Virgin Islands. There was also a gift shop which had the world famous banana daiquiri. My daiquiri came with a cup to take home for about fifteen dollars ($15.00). The line to get a daiquiri was very long and I felt that the gift shop was short staffed.

Stopped here on an island tour. This is supposedly the home of the original Banana Daquiri. You can get one along with a host of other drinks at the bar, but like much of the items in the store it's a little overpriced. The view from the deck outside is worth the trip though. Spectacular views of the coastline and a great place for pictures.

Mountain Top offers breathtaking views of Megen’s Bay, the Northern coast, St. John’s, and the British Virgin Islands. What’s not to love in spending time looking at these amazing pieces of art of nature. Pictures do not even come close to the brilliance of what you will experience. The Banana Daiquiri’s are without a doubt the best you’ll ever taste. No where else on St. Thomas did anyone serve such a tasteful pleasure. You will love this place!

We vacationed in St Thomas for a week and this is one on the attractions that was recommend. Great shopping with many items to select from, beautiful jewelry, ice cream with chunks of rum cake (yum), stunning views of Megan’s Bay and the islands. I can attest - THE best banana daiquiris!! Definitely a play you want to check out.

Mountain Top is not particularly easy to get to since its, ON A MOUNTAIN TOP. LOL! But it is a must-see destination on St. Thomas. The home of the Banana Daiquiri we had to sample their signature cocktail. Yep, it's a banana daiquiri.
The gift shop is magnificent (that's from a person who hates shopping). It's huge and clean and has pretty much anything anyone is looking for. The views are spectacular! I appreciated the map by the railing that tells the viewer what they're looking at.

Epic views and a massive selection of souvenirs at very reasonable prices (and no, I don't work there!). Seeing reasonable prices helped my overall impression and desire to look at everything. The staff could have been friendlier or could have acknowledged our presence in some way, but after a few days on this island you get used to their standoffishness, as the beauty of the island far surpasses that annoyance.

Best place for souvenirs on St Thomas! I was having a hard time trying to find well priced souvenirs that I could take back home for my children and family. I was so relieved when we arrived at Mountain Top! To say they have a massive assortment of options is an understatement! We found awesome gifts at reasonable prices. To top it off, they have the BEST view of Magens Bay! We stopped at Drakes Seat the day before after visiting the beach itself. The view from Mountain Top could not be beat!

We were on a island tour with a very short stop here. HUGE place to get t shirts and other mementos. I could have spent hrs in here. Fantastic views from the top. Problem is from where we were staying it would be a $30 one way trip for 2 via taxi only. We were on a tour anyway so no big deal, but if wanted to go back, price prohibitive for a $15 t shirt. GREAT selection. This needs to be marketed better as we just stumbled on it and again great place for souvenirs.

I will be visiting Summer 2024. I plan on visiting magens bay beach then taking a taxi to The Mountain Top.
My question is, would i be able to catch a taxi from the mountain top to take to to the cruise port? Are there taxi drivers around regularly to just catch a ride to the port?
Written 2 July 2023
There are always drivers around on busy days. However, the friendly staff at Mountain Top will definitely help you get a taxi.

Can you get here by taking the sky ride?
Written 28 December 2019
Guess not. You need "wheels". A fair drive or ride from downtown or even further from the port. Taxis are cheap.

Is it a simple destination to drive to? If so, how is the parking?
Written 3 April 2019
We drove from Margaritaville to Mountain Top. There is plenty of parking. It’s a beautiful drive and we had no issues. Drive slow. Take your time. It’s a fun drive and can easily be done using common sense driving.

What is the average amount of time a person spends on the mountain top?
Written 9 November 2018
I would say 15-30 min depending on if you get a drink or do some shopping. Views are amazing so could spend 15 min just doing that.
