We visited the workshop on 02/21/17 and truly enjoyed our time. Vincent was at an appointment but his wife, Kettely, showed us around. She is delightful. The pieces were unique and beautiful. We believe the prices to be reasonable. We are not into the traditional vacation souvenirs (hats, t-shirts, etc.). Instead, we always scour around in search of local art... More

A very fun outing and beautiful drive through the rainforest. Gorgeous, picturesque trees once you get to the property. Huge, open-air workshop piled with jumbles of raw wood (mahogany, saman & thibet/tibet) and rough slabs. Scattered throughout you'll find serving boards, clocks, a few small finished tables, decorative pieces of roots, wind chimes, magnets, and other miscellaneous items. I bought... More

LEAP had been around for decades. The rain forest road is bumpy and it seems hard to get to but once there and Vincent Starts showing the beautiful mahogany pieces, you will be happy you made The trek. They do have a bat problem, but it is in the rain forest! . As a long time resident, LEAP is my... More

We come from a family of loggers so what we saw was highly overpriced for the small amount of time that was put into the very basic shapes of items offered. I found $75 extremely pricey for a mahogany cutting board. Be careful what you touch as there was bat guana everywhere :)

This guy carves mahogany pieces in a barn creating unique pieces polished and pretty. Prices are high but the craftsmanship is good. The bats in ceiling though make this place not only scary but dangerous to linger around the heAvy guano deposits over everything. It's worth a visit though.

While driving along Mahogany Road, we saw a small sign on a tree "advertising" The Leap (also called The Shop). Interesting drive up the driveway on a dirt road. Our 2-wheel drive rental car handled it just fine. Don't expect a store or gallery-type setting. What you will get is a personal tour of the open-air woodshop by the AWESOME... More

Everyone else's reviews are pretty spot on and so why reinvent the wheel. I am only here to tell everyone to have cash. I am 99% sure they don't take plastic and so make sure to take cash with you. While everything IS reasonably priced, it's still not cheap. I got 2 St Croix magnets and an oven pull for... More

This place is well off the beaten path, but if you want true homemade island art, you must visit. It's a dusty, old workshop turning out amazing pieces of art from fallen Mahogany trees. The wood artist gave us a personal tour and showed us furniture and small objects (windchimes, utensils, figurines, wood carvings) in all stages of creation from... More

Michael Thomas was our cab driver. Very reasonable. Had a 4 hour tour which included stopping to see how rum was made and barreled at the Cruzan Distillary. He took us by plantations and through the Rain Forest as well as seeing the island. Look for him when you get off the ship. Felt very safe.

I read about St. Croix Leap prior to our visit to the island - it's been on my "bucket list" for years. The sign for the turn-off of the main road is a little hard to see, so you need to watch closely for it. We were afraid we had taken a wrong turn as we drove up the bumpy... More
