Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you need a rental car in Turks and Caicos (and chances are you definitely will!), definitely book with Winston at Side to Side Rentals. Winston personally picked me up from the airport and drove me to their office (just a few minutes away). Registration was quick and easy, and the rate was extremely affordable. Winston himself is so pleasant and offered some tips, a map, and local dining suggestions. 10/10 experience.

Providenciales is a perfect place for vacation, especially if you’re looking for a relaxed, understated location (Somerset) with an extraordinary beach (Grace Bay) and great restaurants (too many to mention). And if you need a car rental, try Side to Side Rentals. Proprietor is Winston Bent — honest and dependable. Contact info below.

This is actually the Salt Mills Plaza area. It hosts a nice collection of shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and an ice cream parlor that sells homemade ice cream(!). We all found things to buy and eat. It was close for us (~1/2 mile) and there’s sidewalks & street lights so it’s a safe walk. There’s a cute little place called Potcake Place that is a K-9 rescue facility. Animal lovers can take a puppy for a morning walk.

If you're not the type that is going to stay at an all-inclusive hotel, sit on their beach, eat at their restaurants, and swim in their pool and not venture out, you probably think it's just great. But, if you do rent a car and drive around you will be surprised at what you see. There is trash from one end of the island to the other, all along the roads, in the bushes, on the trails to the beaches, etc. There are starving wild dogs everywhere. We were there for 8 days and saw 6 dead dogs on the road. There is a dog adoption program that is not widely advertised. You can adopt a pup for $100 and let it fly home with you in your seat. Four puppies were adopted by Bostonians and flew home on the plane with us. The poverty is shocking only because I was not aware that it existed. There are many islands where the poor are extremely poor, but I never heard that about Turks and Caicos. There are also abandoned, partially built buildings, hotels and subdivisions all over the island. This is a result of the recent government corruption and land grab. Food costs a lot of money. A loaf of bread is $9.00, a box of cereal is $7.00 and a 6 pack of beer is $21.00. We ate out twice and each time was between $120.00-$160.00 and the food sucked.
On the up side, the weather was great, beaches are beautiful and people are friendly.

Our family vacation in January 2015 in the Providenciales was interrupted by a robbery. The robbers broke windows to gain access to the rented home in the Grace Bay area. Cell phones, tablets, jewelry and easy-to-carry but personally valuable items were stolen. The lost pictures and personal items is what hurts. Thankfully we avoided confronting the burglars and did not incur physical harm. During the evening while police were investigating, another robbery was reported within 1 km. The following day we learned of a car break-in within the same area. A local veterinarian clinic had its safe removed by thieves for the drugs it contained during the Christmas week. On our departing trip to the airport a local rental car employee was very surprised to learn of our robbery and the others I reported to him. He was under the impression that crimes had not occurred in the Providenciales for several weeks because nothing had been reported on TV or radio.

If you go to the Providenciales do not leave any valuable items visible in an auto or room. Use the safe for as much as you can fit in it. Hide valuables prior to receiving cleaning or other services.

I recently vacationed in Provo for ten days and was appalled and horrified by the way the natives treat the stray animals on this island. The island is very small but there are 4000, yes four thousand stray wild dogs dying of heart worm and starvation there. I drove by 10 dead dogs on the main thoroughfare and was shocked by the oblivious nature of the people living on this island. The average stray dog lives to be 3 years old, dying of starvation, heart worm, and being torn to bits by other hungry strays. I will never travel here again, I would never spend a dollar on a culture that is so cold to these beautiful creatures. There is a group called the PotCake Rescue shelter that is amazing, they do as much as they can, but they cannot keep up with the amount of strays and ignorance of those living there. (I noticed many, many churches, but the natives have a weird sense of what being close to "God" is by letting these creatures suffer. If you do go, stop by the Potcake Place and lend a hand.

One hopes when you go on vacation you do not need an emergency visit but while on a recent Provo trip I in fact did not need care. I'd like to say it was an exciting story but while taking the garbage out a can stop put a 4 inch slice in my leg (fat was visible). It was deep and long. We knew a local and they recommended Associated Medical Urgent Care instead of the hospital. It was the best advice. I had a makeshift tourniquet wrapped around my leg. I did not even have to sit in the waiting room - they took me write into one of the rooms and put me on a medical bed. The nurse, (Joy I believe) was friendly and explained everything that would happen before the doctor even came in. Dr. Bourne came in (there are two Bournes - this was the younger one). He was professional, funny and social. Everything was done is an extremely sterile way and although I've never had stitches before I 've seen my fair share with children. These stitches were beautifully done and you could tell he took great pride in his work. Afterward they gave it an awesome wrapping (complete with funky neon pink wrap) and care instructions. The antibiotic prescription was filled right in the pharmacy located in the center. Hope you don't have to visit emergency care while on island but if so... ask to be taken to Associated Medical.

This was our second trip to TCI. We went last year at the same time. We (4 of us) were going to rent a car to visit the Island of Providenciales (Provo) but after reading a review on TripAdvisor from two other tourists who had hired the services of Jarred Quant, a nice young man who now lives on the island, we decided to call him. Jarred lived in Middle Caicos and is a native of the Islands. Jarred took us all around Provo, looking over the Atlantic and then the Pacific oceans. We toured downtown, and then East to West. The tour took about 3 hours and it was very interesting to hear Jarred's comments as he knows all the ins and outs of Provo, its culture, its people, and the rest of the TCI. Yes, you can rent a car and do this yourself but for an "inside" look at TCI, a local tour guide is the way to go and Jarred was polite, knowledgeable and a wealth of information. Give this new business a try...you wont be disappointed. jarred_quant@hotmail.com

Do NOT rely on any boat operators, tour guides, local outfits - they are all prone to tell stories about the reef, North shore, South Shore, etc. Hurricane Irene stirred up the waters. There is ONE spot for snorkelling without going offshore: SMITH'S REEF (specifically, the Western edge of Smith's Reef). Forget Coral Gardens - a tiny patch flooded with tourists. I've snorkeled Malaysia, 5 Hawaiin islands, Cozumel, and over a dozen Caribbean islands, so I know of what I speak.

Trip Advisor, help! If this listing is for the Grace Bay Salt Mills location, then it needs to be edited. There really isn’t a “downtown Provo” but there is a Downtown Grace Bay with shops, restaurants, hotels, etc.
