Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

While on a tour, there was a stop off at Castara Bay. There were a few places to grab a drink and snacks. There was also a washroom area ($5) and someone selling little souvenirs. Really nice views.

Nice beach . Fishing village with friendly locals. Dive shop for scuba. I'd go back again for a longer stay some day. Lots of parking

Castara is such a great beach to visit. Lifeguards on duty. Clean and functional amenities and a safe friendly environment.

A decent drive through the mountains to get here, this adds to the attraction.

Beautiful picturesque beach that is off the beaten path. It's a trek to drive to with winding roads. Restaurant beach side. Still warm waters. Nearby waterfalls

We chose Keino Twin Island Tours: 5 Star, tour. Keino took us to the rainforest, waterfalls, Castara and Charlottesville, a lovely round trip stopping at places of interest and photos of the amazing scenery onroute. We received a great balance of interesting facts and space to enjoy the day. Really great tour guide

A nice friendly town. Good food all around. Events are held on the beach on Friday (BBQ), Saturday bon fire and Pan artists on Wednesday. Fishermen reel in their nets from the beach. Lots of fun helping them out. They bake bread 'the old way', and tastes great! Fresh fish to eat (or buy) where ever you go in town. There is a nice restaurant for couples that is about 100 feet off the beach. They only seem to be open on the weekend.

I love the scenery, the birds ,the surrounding forests the choice of restaurants. The friendliness of the people. I love where we stayed. The music.

I didn't love the constantly polluted air from smoking and bonfires, both on the beach and reaching our balcony and I wouldn't recommend Little Beach for anyone who has throat or breathing problems.

This is a lovely little bay on the north side of the island full of local businesses and local places to stay. Worth a visit but a good hours drive from Crown point along potholed roads. Combine with a visit to Englishman’s bay. If staying here it is worth considering hiring a car as Castara is quite small with only a limited choice of bars and restaurants and things to do.

Those who come wanting jetskis, nightclubs and casinos will be disappointed !
Those coming to relax and recharge their 'batteries' will not be!!
Reading the different reviews it seems some people are in the wrong place, sorry you cannot please everyone. Friendly locals, a variety of places to eat and drink, great safe beaches, the main beach has lifeguards, the smaller beach does not. A waterfall, the rainforest is close by, fresh fish, abundant birdlife, good snorkeling, diving as well!
The village has the newest ATM on the island which was changed last year to accept more overseas cards. Because it is the only one on the Caribbean side of the island it gets used a LOT. Someone remarked 'if it is working', well it has worked for the last year but it does run out of money. As a result of discussions with the bank by the Castara Tourism Association you can now draw 6000tt over a 7 day period on a card! You must tell your card issuer where you are going, constant withdrawals of large amounts of cash will be 'redflagged!! The village was the first on island to have a Carib Brewery glass collection bin as well as those for plastic bottles and can bins. The villagers are proud of Castara often referring to it as the 'independent island of Castara!'
Spend a few days here and you will understand why !!
In the notes below it mention " Is this a good place to see the sunrise! Wrong side of the island BUT is is the best place to see the sunset and there is always the possibility of seeing the 'greenflash' ......

This is a must go to place in Tobago. The beach is very nice and the water is shallow and good for the children. There are several places to eat and a nice bar on the beach. If you want like snorkeling and want to see the reefs, then just ask one of the locals in Andersons bar on the beach and they will take you out to the best places for about 400TT per person and they are very knowledgable about thier surroundings.
