Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Interesting flora and fauna, it's educational and romantic. You will definitely want to bring a camera it's a photographer's paradise and an amazing landscape put on your walking shoes. I like the newly refurbished official residence of the president.

Beautiful walk of around 45 minutes in the shade of the magnificent century-old trees of the botanical garden. Located near Queen Savannah Park and the zoo. Many benches and kiosks for picnicking. The garden is well maintained. Toilets are located at the entrance.

One of the first things we did on our arrival on Trinidad was to take a walk thru the Botanical Gardens to get the kinks out of our travel-weary legs. After checking at the main gate security hut for a map that has the most predominate trees & bushes labeled, the guard said she gave her last one away. Our guide book said it's better to have a guide or a map on your first time so you can have explanations of the varieties of trees and flowering plants (there are a very good number of those), so we took advantage of using a very friendly local we found in the gardens (I believe his name was James) who offered to guide us for whatever we deemed a worthy tip. (Our book suggested finding one of the locals who hang out at the park just for that purpose because it's cheaper.) He was extremely polite and gave an excellent tour along with good history of the gardens and the cemetery in the park. Bring along a rain jacket and umbrella because showers pop up suddenly in this area and drench you in less than a minute. There are a few shelters for just such showers, but they are not close enough together so you can stay dry enough before reaching one after the downpour starts. Nice place to jog, too because it's got a nice circular path that includes slight hills.

I've been to this place three times at different hours and different days of the week. Although it's one of the very few spots where you can walk in Port of Spain without -a- falling inside a hole supposedly covered with a poorly placed metal plate on what's left of a sidewalk or -b- being crushed by maniac drivers, the place itself is poorly kept and can definitely use a major facelift. It's definitely safe as the country's President offices are literally next door. Both local and tourists frequent it. My usual gripe re the non existent admission fee is well justified here. The place desperately needs a cash infusion and not having admission fees for foreigners is totally unjustified. Nobody seems to run it. No guides, no interpreters, no nothing. Other than some bored security guards, not much more seems to happen in this place. Parking is at your own risk and if you park across the street good luck trying to cross the road. If you're in Port of Spain, you're left little choice in terms of walking around town. Walking shoes are a must as stone surfaces tend to get slippery when wet. Try this place but be mindful of its various shortcomings.

Very close to Queen's Savannah Park. It is located in the north side of Savannah and it is the northern limit of Port of Spain. There are no maps available so you have to explore on your own. Very little varieties of flowers but lots of different trees. Spotted at least 5 species of birds too. Relaxing and cool environment to stay away from the heat. Nice place for kids to play around and has picnic areas too. Emperor valley zoo is just adjacent to the gardens and can be reached walking from within. Safe place for tourist. You can visit during your stroll around the Queen's Savannah park.

Very beautiful place for some peace and quiet. Perfect for families, nice place to bring a picnic, it's right next to the zoo if you want to go there. Very beautiful trees with information on their origin and names, with beautiful plants.
