The Botanical Gardens are one of the most important and popular sites in St Vincent. They are the oldest botanical gardens in the Western Hemisphere (established in 1765) and are also an important conservation site (particularly for the St Vincent parrot). The Botanical Gardens are in Kingstown, a short journey from the town centre.

You're told this is the oldest botanic garden in the hemisphere but you don't expect to see so many really old trees - the now-tangled branches of some have been pushing out shoots and blossoms for over two hundred years having withstood who knows how many tropical storms in that time. There's a Georgian formality to the paths and vistas... More

Tour guide price is BY HOUR and they will draw it out and delay it to maximize the cost. However, having said that, the gardens are beautiful, the guide EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and it was well worth the entrance and tour price....We were not thrilled that the real cost/length of tour was obscured, but again....we spent two hours which was a... Well laid out formal botanic gardens with lots of tropical plants and trees and a lot of history. A small aviary has tropical parrots. A delightful place to meander through for an hour.

We had a fantastic tour guide Mr Wynne who was knowledgeable, informative and extremely courteous. It was fantastic to learn about the flora, fauna and history of St Vincent. A lovely oasis a short distance away from the capital city. A few hours well spent!

We stopped at the Gardens on a whim. We were taken through the gardens by a very knowledgable guide, and got to see and smell all the species of plants and trees growing there. It was pretty impressive.

A lovely garden with lots of trees and plants to see. Take a guided walk as there are very few labels on the trees and bushes and the guide can give you lots of hints and tips about the plants and trees.. The guides are extremely informative about the plants and have some local stories relating to the garden as... More

We had read that this is the oldest Botanical Garden in the Western Hemisphere - from 1765, although one fallen in disrepair several times since then. It is still the best sight in Kingstown, but after having been on the wonderful Vermont Hiking Trail the day before, we were a bit disappointed by the park-like atmosphere of this institution. There... More

Walked from the cruise terminal in town. 20-25 minutes maybe but well worth it. Only 2$ US to get in but we were advised to have a guide to get the most out of our visit. That cost 4$ US each but was absolutely worth it. I assumed we would wait until there were enough customers to go on the... More

Be sure and take a guided tour. Ian gave us so much information on trees and plants, very interesting. So many beautiful things to see! Loved it!
