We stopped over at the Chatham Bay for half a day and truly enjoyed the experience. Snorkeling was nice, with the treasure trove of juvenile puffer fish on the left side of the bay (left if you are facing the shore).

There is little area with shops and restaurants and kite surfing school right where the jetty is. If you are more interested in swimming and relaxing Palm Island is much nicer and it's just across.

We dropped anchor in Chatham Bay, close to the northern end of the long beautiful beach. A quiet, relatively unspoilt bay, great for sunsets; some usually good snorkelling along the north side of the bay, great gusts of wind and now, a new reason to...More
