The Cayman Brac Museum, the oldest Museum in the Cayman Islands opened its doors to the public on December 3rd, 1983. Through the years our efforts have been focused on preserving the unique history of Cayman Brac & Little and creating informative exhibits. The Museum’s home is the Old Government Administration Building built in 1933 which housed the Post Office, Customs, Treasury and much more under one roof before it was replaced by a new building in 1983.

This is the right place to learn about the history of the Cayman Islands. It was most interesting and enjoyable to look at all of the memorabilia and learn about the history of these people and what they have had to live through with a devastating hurricane in 1932 and how they have rallied as a people and nation.

You can get a glimpse of island life when they were very isolated from the rest of the world. Many artifacts from the 1932 hurricane and how some of the people survived the destruction. You will have a better understanding of the families who have been on Brac for several generations. The Fosters, Scott's, Tibbett's, Boddens, and Kirconnell's are some... More

Wonderful little museum . Free , donations excepted . Takes about one to two hours of enjoyment to go through this little gem . You will see some photos of the 1932 hurricane, The devastation that the Brac's endured . The way they lived and died , and still carry on the family's name . No photos please .

The museum is free so stop by if you are touring the island for caves. It's very small but really depicts how the hurricane of 1932 totally destroyed the island. The survivors hid in the caves.

learned so much about the islands damaging hurricane of 1932. Lots of artifacts like phones, tools, irons from locals who have donated them to the museum. You can even listen to first hand eye witness accounts from hurricane survivors.

We really enjoyed our visit to this little museum. It was an unexpected look at how life "had been". We were especially moved by the recollections of those affected by the hurricane of '32. The people on the Brac never gave up. We are glad they never did.

Cayman Brac Museum is definitely worth the stop. No cameras allowed. We spent about one hour there and were quite interested in the stories of the Hurricane of 1932. We recognized names of towns by looking at the old photos of the early families residing on Cayman Brac.

Small museum, but free. The most interesting were the stories and photos regarding the Hurricanes. Lots of interesting old artifacts.

A view into old times, lots of things your grandparents used in every day life. No picture taking allowed.
