While riding around the island, we stopped at the Tarpon Lake to look around. The water level was down several feet from its normal level but it was still worth the stop.

The lake looks very pre-historic. But good photo opportunities for birds. The dock has a railing only on one side. I wouldn't take children down the dock without supervision.

Neat fishing spot. Just minutes from LCBR. Used a local guide and it was reasonable. They supply the tackle. Catch big Tarps

The lake was very quiet the day I visited. No birds were about other than the soaring Frigates which are always a wonderful site.

The shallows looked like tea from the tannins from the trees...way cool. There are boats at the end of the walkway that can be used to paddle around...just bring them back to the walkway and tie them up. Interesting story about the lake-read the signage...More
