Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's all about the rum cakes! Yes, they're a little one the 'over-average' price range, but it's the Caribbean. Honestly, this store is just about like the other's of the same name. Average prices, average service. They have a good selection of touristy type items as well as drinks.

Did not have much time left before boarding our cruise ship, but the staff were able to complete our orders in time. Staff is always very helpful-this is our 3rd time shopping here and the prices have been much lower than on the ship.

Grand Cayman duty free liquor shops have Great Prices. The 2 at the pier usually have several of the popular brands buy 2 get 1 free. This makes Absolute and several others $30 for 3 liter size bottles. They will deliver them to the ship.

The Tortuga Duty Free Liquor store is unethical and full of scammers. My mom specifically asked the two women cashiers if she could purchase alcohol for the cruise. They responded, “Yes, we will deliver straight to your room.” I interjected and clarified would the alcohol be delivered when we returned to the ship so we could partake during our cruise. They responded, “Yes, they would get the alcohol delivered straight to our rooms.” After we finished with the transaction they responded, “Oh yeah, the alcohol will be delivered to your room at the end of your cruise.” My jaw dropped in surprise. These two women should be ashamed of themselves. They are awful human beings with poor character and are a horrible representation of the Grand Cayman Island. Do not support this business, you will be deceived!

Disappointed,
Chrystal

While on a recent visit we stopped in this store to browse. I bought a cold water upon leaving the store & went to the counter with it. I put the water on the counter & handed the lady a $10 bill.
She gave me my receipt with my change of $4........I stood there a second & then said...I gave you a ten, to which she replied, no I didn't & I still standing there with the money she returned to me in my hand. I said no maam you didn't & then she said I must have dropped it. I hadn't moved so I replied again no maam..... to which she replied that she must have dropped it...reaching in the till to give my correct change.
I would count your change before stepping away, I would bet they do this to unsuspecting visitors all day long!

The Tortuga Duty Free store is a pretty good one stop shop if you would like to purchase delicious rum cakes, their flavored coffees, and a nice variety of flavored rums. You get an opportunity to sample cake and also rums. I suggest you do this prior to purchase. Everything is good, but you can make a better choice that way.
If you happen to be visiting during lunch, you might get trapped in the parking lot for good reason. Locals line up to purchase hot and delicious meat pies. Yes, meat pies!!! They are a little on the spicy side, but it is well worth it. They sell a variety of beef, chicken, or vegetable pies. I purchases a chicken meat pie combo that included chips and a soda for about 7CI. You can also see the rum cakes being made and packaged. Nice stop!

The rum cake is delicious but you can purchase it in other places! The building is run down and the day we stopped by the factory wasn't even up and running so we couldn't see the cakes being made. Not worth the drive.

We found much better deals out away from the cruise line tourist trap. Unless you have unlimited cash falling out of your pockets do not shop here!

Went to Tortuga Rum Shop and had nice experience, but I do not recognize this picture's location. There are actually shops at the location, if you are on a ship, they have one price, on a plane -- they charge more. I came prepared with lots of bubble wrap because of flying Delta--Delta broke my bottle of Dark Tortuga Rum in Feb of 2018. A Knoxville TSA agent said I could bring back 5 bottles and so I played it safe with 3. I will go back to Georgetown again, it is lovely, friendly & sunny. Comfort Suites is nice, pretty pool & restaurant, and terrific front desk group.
