Flamingo Refuge

Not that many places you can observe flocks of flamingos in their element, but this is one. We didn't spend a lot of time here but we did see some birds. Our travel companions had... read more

Easy to get to so worth the stop, but the flamingos were so far away it was impossible to make out more than pink specs in the distance.

YOu cant get close to see the flamingo's but they have a look out point to take pictures. I heard there is a tour that can get you close enough to see the birds.

We took a boat out to Flamingo Island, Conch Shell Island and snorkeled the Reef. As we approached the flamingos they appeared to be a coral/pink color in the distance. As the boat got closer the flamingos began to fly, such a pretty sight and we captured it in photos as well as video. They then circled back, almost following... More

As you are driving from the ferry toward Loblolly, you can often see the flock, from the bridge, to your left. They obviously, want to be away from civilization. The largest flock is on a part of Anegada, that is inaccessible. Be very careful of driving too close to the salt ponds, getting stuck, is a real possibility. Check out... More

Not that many places you can observe flocks of flamingos in their element, but this is one. We didn't spend a lot of time here but we did see some birds. Our travel companions had been before and they indicated that if you wanted, you could travel around the pond for better views and get pretty close. Enjoy the beauty... More

I never experienced a flight of flamingos before, it was quite riviting. They are graceful creatures that can only truly be enjoyed in a natural environment.

We rented scooters to see the island. We drove to the bridge and could see pink blobs in the distance as they were doing their flamingo thing on the other side of the pond. I hate to give this location a bad review as the flamingos just do their thing. We enjoyed seeing the island.

Went on lobster hunt with Kelly with a belly and he did a great job of SLOWLY approaching the flamingos so we could take them in and the sight of them flying away. Highlight!

We stopped at the small bridge on the way to the settlement and observed the flamingos in the distance. Very hard to see them.
