This is a nice spot with some very interesting plants and trees. But as others have mentioned it appears to need funding & upkeep. Has potential to be a lovely botanical garden. Good place to have a peaceful, relaxing break away from crowds of tourists & get out of the heat.

This is a small botanical gardens with some interesting plants. It takes about an hour to see but for $3 it is worth it. As well as the plants there is some wildlife (chickens, goldfish, tortoises, turtles and the ubiquitous lizards). It is worth it for the glorious banyan tree alone!!

Small botanical gardens well worth a look if you are visiting Tortola. Especially worth a look is the sausage trees which i had never seen before. There is a small gift shop but make sure you pay the price on the ticket as the woman at the desk tried to overcharge me on an item and i had to argue... More

Someone suggested we visit here and we had time so did. The turtles were there and the highlight. Nice walking path but minimal signage as to plants you were looking at. Map was difficult to follow. Too bad because it has lots of potential. Needs a gift shop to increase revenue!

Very tired botanical garden. Can sit back and relax. A few worthwhile plants. Takes about 1 hour to walk the trails.

A lovely peaceful spot to spend an hour or so but how sad that it is so badly cared for. Those who contributed to the various areas would be saddened to see how neglected it is at the moment.

My husband and I, inveterate gardeners, have toured many botanical gardens in the U.S. and, hearing J.R. O'Neal was one of the best of its kind in the Caribbean, we were excited to see it. We quickly had to put our expectations into perspective of where we were. While there were many interesting plants decently maintained in this small garden,... More

A gentle walk of under a mile or so from the Road Town cruise port in Tortola, these gardens offer a great place to visit for $3. Peaceful and relaxing, not very large but features a small shop (for drinks), clean toilets and some interesting flora & fauna. Plenty of seating to use the wi-fi and to admire the butterflies... If you have visited the beaches and attractions of the BVI such as Virgin Gorda and are looking for something different to do during a port call in Tortola, the JR Neal Botanic Gardens are a pleasant alternative. Located on the other side of Road Town from the cruise ship terminal, the Gardens are still within walking distance for those... More

Not a huge garden, but has a fine collection of flowering trees, palms and shrubs, the home to many birds and butterflies, including hummingbirds. Not far from the centre of town, but peaceful and tranquil this is delightful garden, well cared for, though not immaculate. Personally I think that adds to its charm. There is also a pond with water... More
