A wonderful place to visit! The gallery is not operating with normal hours during this Pandemic, but you can email them and they will set an appointment to meet with you. Laura and Roland graciously opened up the gallery for us to view the artwork, and the beautiful, historic house. His plein air paintings showcase the island and its people, and you can feel the light coming from the canvases. The artist took the time to talk to us about his work, and various pieces, and we purchased a painting that will always remind us of our time here, and of Sir Roland. The property is amazing, with a lovely garden. If you come to St. Martin, don't miss this. Just send them a message through their website.

We signed up for a tour with Seagrapes, the Roland Richardson Art Gallery was one of the stops. Roland Richardson came out to meet everyone who was in the art gallery. He is an amazing artist, he gave an explanation about light and how it impacts his work, amazing experience! Must see for any one visiting Marigot.

Sir Roland Richardson and Laura are just truly beautiful individuals. We were able to see them two times this year and each experience was just wonderful. The gallery is beautiful and each piece takes you to the location where Sir Roland stood and took in the beauty of the island. We took friends this year who visited the island the first time and it was neat to see their experience.

I recently stopped by Roland art gallery in the French side. His work is fantastic and a must buy to take back to our Texas home 😀. Kids had fun looking at his paintings and talking to Ronald himself.

We attended Sir Roland's class in the upstairs gallery one Thursday morning in April. He was painting a portrait of his brother and we were able to see the painting emerge from a blank canvas to a complete portrait interpretation in about three hours. Visitors are not required to stay for the full session and may wander in and out, but I was transfixed. As he applied strokes, some grand and sweeping, others fine and delicate, he explained not only what he was doing by *why* he was doing it. That morning, he created a moment. I had been a fan of his ever since noticing him one morning several years ago at the Marigot market where he was sketching notes on a small pad of specially treated paper. Since then we have visited the gallery every year and own several of his pieces (sadly only prints, but some day....) Even on days when he is not in attendance, his gallery is a bright, cheerful place to visit. It is in a restored 1840's-era home in Marigot, in which Roland was born, and includes an inner garden framed by an old barracks. Hint: there is a paid parking area about 300 feet up the hill from the gallery, near the high school and transit center on Rue de Hollande. Otherwise, free parking usually can be found on the harbor to the west of the marketplace, but that can be a longish hike in (and up a slight hill). Well-behaved children who understand "look but do not touch" would enjoy visiting this gallery. Note. Sir Roland has another gallery in the La Samanna.
