- Vicki S6 contributionsFriday Night Party like never before!Excellent way to enjoy the people and culture of Gros Islet! Food was amazing and plentiful from all of the vendors. Rum punch was excellent, but try the Rude Boy - out of this world! Souvenirs on every corner. Music and dancing, better than new Orleans! Can't wait to go back!Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 October 2023
- Jonno & Tracko on tourNewport, United Kingdom8,060 contributionsCool party - reggae on down.A unique experience with the reggae beat of the island. Locals and tourists mix with the street vendors and bars for a fun evening stretching into the early morning if you want. Beware the rum punch and it’s strength. Best to arrange a taxi drop off and pick up as it gets busy. Lots of street dogs roaming around but no bother really. Relax and enjoy.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 November 2023
- Ryan D10 contributionsUnique must experience atmosphereGreat experience. Dancing, street sellers, party vibe, authentic food. Felt safe with both tourists and locals. Arrived early (6:30) to get fish from Dukes (a must!). Left around 10:30 after 4-5 rum punches. Taxi return to Rodney Bay for 80 EC. It's definitely worth a visit.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 November 2023
- Ian FReading, United Kingdom79 contributionsFun eveningWe caught a taxi from our hotel and arrived a little early, around 7.30 as things were just warming up. We had drinks in quite a few different bars and from street vendors and were surprised at the prices. We only paid between 20EC and 30EC for 4 drinks at most places and the most we paid was 36EC and the measures are really generous. There is plenty of food on offer, lots of meat skewers, meat & fish platters. There was music all along the street but at one end there were huge speakers stacked up about 8 feet high and you could feel the ground vibrating. This is where the majority of people were dancing. There was a really nice mix of locals and tourists and a really relaxed feel. We felt totally safe at all times. We booked our taxi back to the hotel in advance and I would suggest you arrange transport in advance as it might be difficult to arrange something late at night. We left about 12.30 and the party was still going strong.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 November 2023
- kerry f corcoranLincoln, Nebraska114 contributionsGood party! This party happens every Friday and is a blast. We were staying in Soufriere, approximately 2 hours car ride. We utilized Majestic Taxi and Tours to make the trip and would do it again - see separate review. Come down for local and tourists to hang out, drink, listen to music and have great food. There is somethingg for everyone here and most everyone is incredibly welcoming.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 6 December 2023
- tim m5 contributionsLocal Flair - Don’t miss itGet out of the resort and check out the street party. Locals selling drinks, beers, food and wares. Similar to a walk down Bourbon St. in New Orleans except all the bars are on the outside. Great people watching experience.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 31 December 2023
- GillHenlowHenlow, United Kingdom192 contributionsGreat experienceGreat experience. Everyone seems to end up here on a Friday evening. It’s busy, felt very comfortable there. Loads of places to get a drink, need to be patient getting your food, but well worth the wait. Recommend getting a taxi there and booking a return journey. Our driver was amazing, drove us around to get our bearings, gave us a specific pick up location.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 January 2024

We ate in a small restaurant a short walk from the main square. The music was great, as was the dancing in the street. We felt very safe and the locals were friendly too. Being in nearby Rodney Bay we felt we had to go and see what the street party was about.
To be honest I felt a little apprehensive about the area and the fact that we were going somewhere with so many people about, however I need not worry. We went fairly early around 7.30 and asked our taxi to come back for us at 10 as we are not late birds.
The party was only just getting started when we arrived and only seemed to start get going around 8.30ish. This gave us a perfect opportunity to get our food ahead of the crowds. My husband couldn’t resist the half lobster at EC100 seemed very reasonable. I being the fussy eater opted for chicken and noodles. Whilst my husband was in heaven with his lobster I not being a lover of garlic didn’t really enjoy mine as everything was laced heavily with garlic.
There are loads of people selling drinks from little stalls however we opted to go into a bar to get ours which were really reasonable EC20 for a local rum and coke and JD and coke.
Music I was expecting to hear lots of Reggae music however it was more UK dance music which really got the crowd going.
Tips wear cool clothes, don’t overdress and flat shoes as the streets are very uneven.

A taxi will take you and drop you off with an arranged pick up time. I don’t think a guide is necessary, just stay on the main streets.
Do you listen to the advice and get there early? I would recommend between 7 and 715 if you plan to eat. If at all possible bring East Caribbean Dollars, it will save you money and it’s easier. Highly recommend trying the mahi-mahi at Duke’s place.
Party starts to ramp up around 9 pm and it will get busier as the night goes on. Our pick up was scheduled for 10:30 but another 30/60 minutes would have been great.
It’s very noisy and crowded, but the vendors are kind and not pushy.
I would recommend everyone make this an event to attend but schedule your pick based on how much you enjoy really load music and lots of people.

So I went here on Friday night 2/28/20 to experience the nightlife and enjoy some good island food but I was sadly disappointed. So first I wanted some fish went all the way to the restaurants by the water stopped at this place where it was crowded ordered some fish with rice and they put A ton of this garlic sauce over the rice plus the rice was bland and the sauce was not very tasty at all. I then decided to try something else out plus I was still hungry. So I stopped out at another spot where I saw the line was very long and bought some chicken like who messes up chicken right.
The Chicken it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great like I think I expected more. The pic I shared was the spot with the horrible fish. I’m not saying don’t try it but just be prepared to eat at multiple spots. The atmosphere was nice there are a lot of hungry dogs walking around and alit if placed you buy drinks and ice cream.

It might be a lively party atmosphere but beware. We bought some BBQ chicken and rice to eat. Mine was slightly red in the middle. My wife's was not cooked at all in the middle. When we sat down an old lady came out from the bar and we ordered 2 rum punches. Not having any small change I gave her a $50 note. First of all she never came back with the change. Then she insisted that I had only given her $20 and she gave me a small amount of change. After a lot more arguing she eventually accepted that I was right and gave me some more money back. Even that was slightly less than I was owed but by then we had finished our meal so we walked out. By her attitude and demeanour it was obvious she thought she could pull a fast one.

Living in Rodney Bay whenever we have visitors this evening out is a must. It has been running for over twenty years for a great reason. Fantastic fresh fish, rum punch, festive atmosphere, and people from all over the world hanging out. The last time we were there was the night before Covid shoot things down. Looking forward to it opening up.

the street party was good. But we went for the fish fry .not to many fish shacks and the main one which is famous had a huge line .so we decided to wait 30 dollars a plate for barbecued fish and rice. and omg it was disappointing bland fish with dry and tasteless rice .like it was way over promoted the fish was just okay and that's it .we all were not impressed at all .

Can't help but feel that St Lucia could make this something good to visit rather than just an excuse to sell beer and drugs to holidaymakers!
It doesn't take more than 10 minutes to wander around the area (hopefully avoiding the many trip hazards and holes) before you are left with not much more to do than wondering which street vendor you will buy your beer from (they all sell the same). This whilst getting your senses knocked out by music played full pelt from huge speakers. We'd hoped to maybe hear for example a local band or to enjoy some local culture but nope. I'd like to say what the music was but my ears were stunned...
The streets were heavy with tourists rubbing shoulders but that's as close to a "party" as you'll get (until the usual suspects have one too many beers..!).
Not worth wasting any of your time on until St Lucia put some effort into making it an event worthy of a visit.

The Gros Islet Friday Night Street Party is the place to be on a Friday evening in Gros Islet. The party is hosted on Dauphin Street where you will meet various street vendors selling drinks like the popular Piton Beer or the local favourite "Rum Punch", also there are a variety of foods available BBQ chicken, grill fish, seafood with multiple sides. You can also find local craft vendors with ceramic, wood, coconut and art craft being sold, as well as various restaurants located on the street.
All around the Street Party you can hear the music and the real dancing and enjoyment offered when the crowd gathers around the speakers. The environment is exciting and entertaining. This is a recommended favourite on any trip to Saint Lucia.

My girlfriend and I both went to the street party on the recommendation of the Tui rep. We both like a drink, a dance and good food, so were very excited by this. However, it's basically just a small street with locals trying to charge you £4/5 a drink that you can get from your hotel for nothing (if all inclusive). The rum punch is better at the hotel. We saw everything we needed to within 5 mins and after sampling a couple of drinks went to queue for the taxi back to the hotel.
Don't feel you have to visit to make the most of your holiday as it really is a good idea to dodge this experience. We thought we should go as we wanted to experience the real Saint Lucia lifestyle but in all honesty wish we'd saved the time and money. If you do go I hope you enjoy but if you're 50/50, just don't bother. It's worse than whatever you have in mind.

----what time does the party get started? best time to go?
----can someone tell me the cost of a taxi to the street party from st james club?
----do any of the food stands serve roti? best place to get them?

I’d get there for 7 pm personally and enjoy the sunset, a nice drink and watch as the area fills with people! There’s always something going on, music in the streets, food being prepared, nice bars facing the Caribbean Sea....just take it easy, roll up when you’re ready and enjoy the atmosphere!
Not sure about taxi fares as I hired a car. Ask around but there are buses from many hotels to grow islet for free.
Yes’, there’s roti, chicken , sea food, veg option, plaintain , green fig salad, and all the food at any stall is good! Relax, and enjoy. People like tourists to enjoy themselves....! 🤗

Best place to get food at the street party. Sea food and non Sea food
Written 4 November 2019
Follow the crowd, you will see a long line of people getting seafood, down around the corner. There are lots of street food vendors cooking up local chicken. I did not eat the street vendor food, and probably would not recommend it. But, the seafood place around the corner with the long lines of locals had the best seafood. Arrive early or plan on waiting in line. Go on a good weather night, no rain. There is little covered areas.

Does it have parking for the street party if so where and do you have to pay ?

We took a taxi arranged by the resort. It was relatively inexpensive and they can take you closer than if you drive. We scheduled a pick up too.

I am allergic to all fish and seafood. Will there be other food options to enjoy

There are plenty of stalls that sell chicken and salads, just choose one that does not sell fish so minimizing cross contamination. Enjoy.

The Street party is every Friday. I am pretty sure that many resorts also offer NYE parties but I am not aware of the prices at the moment.
