This is the shopping area which acts as a gateway to the cruise ships, if you don’t want to go far but want to get off the ship this is perfect, there is a combination of duty free shops and a street market. I bought a magnet and banana ketchup from one of the local traders. the locals swear by banana ketchup and having tried it when I got back home i have to agree it is pretty tasty.
The tours from cruise ships leave from this area too, so it can be very busy depending on the number of cruise ships are in port.

My guests and I enjoy shopping at Pte. Seraphine where there are lots of choices, with Sea Island and its several aliases heading the list with good value, reasonable prices and excellent service. However, avoid Cariloha with its false advertising, poor customer service and downright dishonesty. My friend purchased a pair of socks under the impression that they were made of bamboo. When we arrived home, the part of the label that was hidden under the socks showed that they were 75% polyester, 5% spandex and 20% viscose from bamboo. We decided to return it the very next day as it was not what it was purported to be, According to the policy, we presented it in its original packing. When told that we had been misled, the cashier informed us that "she knows that the polyester was made from bamboo". We pointed out that the labelling only attributes the viscose to be from bamboo. and that polyester is a synthetic. The cashier's next response was "You did not buy it here. You must return it where you bought it".Obviously her hope was that we were cruise ship passengers and that we would be stuck with the unwanted purchase. When presented with the bill, she offered that we take the value of the socks in another article. My friend did not want any of the items offered and asked for a refund. To which the cashier replied that they do not give refunds. I referred to the return policy and she replied that that is only in effect on line, so we should return the item online. At this point, I pointed out that she was openly dishonouring the company's stated policy, whereupon she replied that she had deposited her cash drawer the evening before and so had no money. My friend asked if all of her sales that day had been credit cards and checks. She did eventually return the money, as customers began to exit the store. We promptly went across to Sea Island Cotton and spent the refunded money there. The retailing and service of this establishment is based on dishonesty with an apparent policy of separating the customer from his/her money even to the point of engaging in shyster practices and without any regard for the customer's satisfaction. Surely this is not a reputation that the country wants.

We asked to be dropped off here at Seraphine on our return from the around Island tour with James Touring Service which was a great 5 hour tour right across the island including fishing village, plantation, Sulphur Mountain, Mud Baths, Pitons and Botanical Gardens etc etc. Look them up online for great tour in St Lucia.
Free Wi-Fi available here at Cafe Tropical.
Quite a nice mall with high end jewellery stores, some designer and food outlets. One of the cleaner malls in Castries.
There is another nicer area where the other cruise ships tie up round past the market with a few good bars about 10 minute walk away. Very clean here.

Point Seraphine is located to catch all the tourists piling off the cruise ships that are harbored. The shops are the first place that the cruise ship tourists see... so naturally, they want to buy there. It is very expensive in the shops, and the locals are not willing to budge or barter on their prices.

As a recent tourist who just vacationed in St.Lucia for 10 days, I recommend taking the ferry for $2 US from Point Seraphine to the local market in Casteries. The market is FULL of locals willing to barter with you! Don't buy the first thing you see, as many of the booths have the same goods, at different, and often lower prices.

If you're looking to buy alcohol that's bottled locally in St.Lucia, and want to spend significantly less than you would at Point Seraphine, ask a taxi to drive you to the local shopping center across the street from the Sandals Halcyon Resort. The shopping center has clothing stores, a book store, local food, and a grocery store. At the grocery store, you can buy local alcohol, cocoa, cashews, banana ketchup, and hot sauce, all for MUCH, MUCH cheaper than they sell at Point Seraphine. This shopping center is very safe, and has much to offer. Check it out!

Hope this review helps. Have fun in St. Lucia!

Located in the Castries harbour, where the cruise ships dock; the duty free shopping mall and shops; visitors TAKE HEED…

There are no duty free deals to be had; everything is way over priced almost to the point of being ridiculous. The prices they offer include the local VAT Tax, all prices are in US dollars and there is no bartering, the price is the price…

For example, a bottle of gin which sells back home for $27 US sells at Seraphine as “a duty free” deal for $76 US..?? Very cheap tee-shirts and tops are selling for $30 US with better quality ones for $40 to $50 US. Most souvenirs are made in china, almost nothing local…
Remember, if you purchase booze you cannot take it onto most cruise ships as they impound it and hold it until you arrive back home…

The facility is narrow and the stores small thus it is very crowded when you have hundreds of tourists all milling and walking around. There is Wi-Fi but no places to sit so people sit on the floor trying to access it. There are only a few food stands offering drinks and poor quality food. Be cautious, when it is crowded there are pickpockets working this area, some are obvious and some pose as cab drivers…

As you exit the facility taxi drivers pursue and pester you trying to force you into their cab so they can charge you $30 to $50 US for a short one way ride to Rodney Bay or other points / beaches and then expect you to use them again for the return trip. Walk out to the main roadway, [5 minute walk], and take a bus for $1.50 US…

Our experience here was less than enjoyable. It was crowded, noisy, not very clean, most annoying and there are NO deals to be had, it is just one giant money grab…

Ok so Pointe Seraphine is a duty free shopping area that is largely set up for the cruise liner trade. By default therefore it is not really a destination you would naturally head for if you were in St Lucia on a holiday. We have dropped in whilst passing on numerous occasions including when it was first opened. So again this visit was made as we were passing anyway and thought we would grab a coffee. So firstly if you are interested in jewelry, high end watches, cheap made in China clothes, or just a coffee or a beer then all of this you can get at Pointe Seraphine in the outlets. Colombian Emeralds will guarantee that their price on anything from a large diamond to a Rolex will be the same at this outlet as at any other outlet in the Caribbean. So if that's what ticks the box you will see as a U.K. Shopper all the 20% off U.K. Prices that is normally VAT but also a further discount of the U.K. Duties on watches and jewelry and a further discount as frankly they are selling it to you from a wooden shed on the quay side in the Caribbean so their retail mark up is discounted. So definitely jewelry is worth looking at. You can get a Decent sandwich or meal and the beer is cheap. But the surroundings have definitely deteriorated since we first visited 25 years ago and it needs some serious updating. So - if passing have a look but as a destination to seek out my view would be forget it.

This was a good place to shop. Prices are or can be a bit high. Be cautious that something are cheaper in Castries Market. Had fun shopping here none the less. I would recommend visiting here.

Why do people pay to travel and then spend their time shopping in "markets" created to give the illusion of bargains? I don't know. Duty-free does not make anything a bargain. However, the are cleaner bathrooms and I was told there was free wi-fi.

This shopping area is just a short walk from the cruise ship dock. It's filled with cute little shops and there are kiosks and info booths where you can find out about tours (if you did not book a ship's excursion). You can also get a ticket for the short ferry boat ride over to downtown Castries. Shops include the "usual suspects" in fine jewelry: Colombian Emeralds, Diamonds International, Tanzanite International and you'll find lots of tee-shirt, cap and souvenirs for sale as well. There's a tiny drug store and a store selling liquor. We found the ship's prices to be better on comparable items, but of course, you can't get everything in the ship's tiny shop. Just outside the enclosed area you'll find some local vendors. I spotted a hanging ornament made locally from coconut. The artisan shaped the coconut into a container and added three birds to the outside. Refreshingly it was not painted, did not say "St. Lucia" anywhere on it and, I felt, would look great in my yard or sunroom. On a past trip we took the ferry over to busy Castries and had lunch overlooking the careenage. This time, we stayed in Seraphine and had lunch dockside at The Pink Papaya (find my review under that restaurant name). We liked it. If you've been to St. Lucia before and/or don't want to invest the time in an excursion, Pt. Seraphine provides a nice break with plenty of time to go back aboard and enjoy the pool, hot tub, spa, and other ship amenities. This is a good activity for just about anyone -- easy walk, easy access all around, friendly people, and safe. We had folks on our cruise in wheelchairs and young families with babies and everyone looked like they were having a nice time. It can get very tight in some of the souvenir shops but many of them also show some of their wares on the sidewalk.
