The town square was beautifully decorated with lights and Christmas motifs. The church on the opposite end of the town hall made a wonderful contrast, as it was more reserved, although pretty. The town hall was very colorful, eye-catching, and festive. The food vendors around the town square offered a wide variety for all tastes.

Plaza Colon is all lit up in the evening and they have some amusement rides and lots of vendors to order local Puerto Rican food. The lights on the building change colors, it is gorgeous (not sure if they only do this during the holiday). Lots of people were walking around, it was very festive. An hour or two is... More

Do not miss this opportunity to enjoy with family or friends the holiday decorations at evening. It is not only a light show, but a good way to feel the town atmosphere and the locals Christmas spirit . Go into the city hall and do not miss the catholic church with beautiful art pieces and decorations.

This is a beautiful town square full of life and charm. Families and friends enjoy an ice cream or coffee from nearby vendors. During Christmas is beautifully decorated with lights, and there is live music. There are people playing dominos and cards; it makes for a lovely afternoon or evening.

Every year Mayagüez - Plaza de Colón turns in a light show. Every one is expecting what will be the theme of the Christmas. Children, seniors and teenagers meet at the Plaza. There is music, typical foods, and a good family environment.

This was a great experience to be had by all. Although the island is warm, the holiday spirit was strong at the Plaza that night. Free concert was spectacular, not to mention the fire works and lights along the historic buildings. Every night until the new year different bands perform. This is an awesome experience.

Beautiful town square with trees to provide shade perfect for sitting and relaxing on the benches. I even saw people playing dominoes. Coffee shop right on the corner and it's only a few steps away from the Mayors office or the Catholic Cathedral. Mayaguez theater one block away. Nice water fountain in the middle of the square topped by a... More

Typical plaza with the cathedral on one end and town hall on the other. In the center is a monument to Colon. Great site to take a stroll in the evening, or just relax

Nice little cafe in the plaza, with outside tables. Good daytime atmosphere but dangerous at night. Lots of locals hanging out there, mostly older men playing dominoes. Unfortunately, lots of sketchy people around there as well. Not a child-friendly place.

Plaza is beautiful, it even has a cafe nearby, and, like every typical Latin plaza, is in the middle of everything. But... there's a lot of homeless people and drug-addicts that harass you for money, and come out of nowhere. It's sad, because this wasn't like that more than a decade ago. I hope the government or someone do something... More
