The Princess Walkway

How could you visit Old San Juan and not walk by this area where hundreds of years ago, the Princes of Spain used to take a walk every evening during sunset!!!

My wife and I recently visited Old San Juan for the third time and her brother Michael and sister-in-law Barbara joined us on this trip for their first visit to the island of Puerto Rico. No matter where you go in Old San Juan there is something historic to see and visit. La Muralla is just one of many places... More

Walking along the water with the wall on the other side of you makes for a beautiful scenery. This historic site was started in the early 1500′s and it is almost 20 feet thick in places and up to 60 feet tall in some places. It was constantly being extended as the city grew and was finally completed in 1782.... More

These ancient walls were the prime defense of the spanish forts typical of San Juan. Awesome, but once you see the areas near the Puerta de San Juan you may consider seen all. However, that being said, all the forts are well worth visiting.

La muralla, "The Wall" is part of the historic fortress that protected Old San Juan from Pirate and other countries wanting to attack Puerto Rico due to its strategic location in the Caribbean. The wall could be a romantic wall along the sidewalk. take a walk at night on the wall, the Atlantic ocean and under a warm moon rekindling... More

This walkway around El Morro is great for walking or jogging. Offers wonderful views of the castillo above and the bay below. Not recommended for us after dark. There are a great number of cats about and sometimes there's a smell in certain areas.

Take the short walk around the wall and enjoy the seaside. It offers beautiful views of the ocean and fortress walls, ending/starting by the entrance to the city, just below the Governor's castle.

One way of viewing the City Walls is to walk through San Juan Gate on the West Side of the old city for an impressive view of the walls behind you and the bay in front of you. One section of the northwest portion of the walls is currently being sand-blasted and restored to it original off-white; the walls must... More
