The museum documents the achievements of the first woman named to be the mayor of San Juan, a position she held for 22 years. Felisa Rincon was the first to develop the concept of "maternal Care Schools+ which President Kennedy used to establish the Head Start program. The pictures show important events such as when she had snow brought to... More

We were headed to the Gate of San Juan when it began to pour rain. We stepped into a doorway for shelter only to find a museum treasure. What a synchronistic visit shortly after the US election that had the first woman (Hillary Clinton) candidate ever to run for President. Puerto Rico is waaaaay ahead of us regarding accepting women... More

We got a tour from a really friendly guy, unfortunately I don't remember his name. This is a really informative and educative museum. I got to know things I had no idea about.

All young girls should visit this museum dedicated to San Juan's first female mayor who was a role model to anyone aspiring to serve their country. Filled with mementos from her professional and personal life, one escapes to another time when island life was much more simple. I took my 9 year old granddaughter there and she said was impressed.

This was a great place to visit. It is a free and fairly quick tour. The tour guide is very passionate and informative. The museum is a tribute to the first major of San Juan, located in house that she lived in for a time. There are two levels and the house is open-air style. A cool place to learn... More

Passionate docents take you through the home of this extremely accomplished woman: mayor for 22 years; helped transform Puerto Rico from the poorest country in the Americas; helped establish hospitals & medical schools; established day cares for children that led to the formation Head Start Programs. Free, but please make a donation to the upkeep of the house.

The host of this House in Old San Juan and all the memorabilia therein are worth the visit if on a walking tour in the morning then head up the street and grab a "Limber" and that's a treat .

We happened upon this museum as we were waiting to check in at our hotel. It was such a pleasant surprise. We knew nothing about Felisa Gautier when entering, but was well informed and impressed after the tour. The docent, Miriam, was so passionate and knowledgeable--we enjoyed visiting this museum, and it is free (donations appreciated). This museum proved to... More
