On my first visit to this unexpected gem in Jamaica, in 1984, the Dean spotted me to be an Englishman and asked me if I could arrange repair of the stained glass with a Birmingham, England artisanat they had last dealt with in the 1930s. So I did (even though Birmingham was 100 miles from my home). That is how special this Cathedral is.

I was married there some 45 years ago. My father-in-law was the Canon in charge. So of course it is a good place to visit; what else could I say? But what a place - steeped in Jamaican and English history. Get someone to talk about that and you may be delightfully surprised about, not least, tales of serious pirates becoming governors. And, of course, routing the Spanish! (The date of my visit is wrong. Earliest in April 1975, but many, many times since then) We return to this place almost every time we visit the island. History? You bet!
