- Luis d1 contributionTake a calm horseback ride through the mangrove forest and on the beach! This was such a wonderful experience. We loved the tour with Carlos and Oraine. They were very friendly and had many interesting facts to share with us. We really appreciated that they care about the animals and we hope to come back next time that we are in Jamaica! Don't miss out on this experience!!Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 November 2023
- GiannaLondon, United Kingdom19 contributionsLovely experienceI don’t think I can describe how beautiful riding through the untouched forest is. The scenery was incredible. I also enjoyed chatting with the tour guide, Carlos, during our ride. He told me so much about the trees we saw, the animals who live there and Jamaica in general. Both guides were very friendly and took loads and loads of photos for free. I had a great timeVisited January 2024Travelled soloWritten 8 January 2024
- mwmcorder42 contributionsWonderful day on horsebackMy husband and I took a ride with Reggae Horseback while in Negril. There were a few hiccups with the time planned as there was a delay getting to ride once we got there, but a tree had fallen on the trail and needed to be removed. The guide, Anthony, was excellent and gave a lot of history on the property of the ranch. Our horses were very good given neither of us had ride in years. While waiting we were able to hang out with many animals ( chickens, cats, dogs, peacocks and even an ostrich!). The beach was beautiful and our ride to and from our hotel was very pretty as well.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 March 2024
- Resort296860373791 contributionHighlight of our trip!Jermaine was an awesome guide who knows and handles the horses very well….you can tell he’s been around them his whole life. I felt very safe with him and after a while I started to get the hang of riding the horse. Jermaine was also really good with my daughter. We had a blast! It was thrilling yet tranquil. Would def recommend. Plus Jermaine took amazing photos and they do pick up and drop off at your hotel! They were a little late…so be flexible…it’s worth the experience.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 June 2024

This was such a wonderful adventure, we highly recommend!! The guide picked us up in Negril and took us to the farm. The horses were amazing, the ride to the beach was spectacular—mangrove forest, sugar cane fields, stunning views of the beach—and the ride in the water was one we will not soon forget. We took our two daughters, ages 9 and 11, it was perfect for them and for us and we would do it again in a heartbeat. If you are in Negril, you must do this!

The experience itself was good however.
I have a rental car and when I asked the owner for a quote via chat, there was no price difference quoted for the excursion with or without hotel pickup. So we decided to use the pickup and return option.
At the side we were told that we had to pay for the pickup and return separately.
The amount was 20 USD.
I also asked upfront via chat if I could pay in JMD, this was no problem. At the side the owner wanted an outrageous amount in JMD.
31.000 JMD instead of 25.841 which is the current conversion rate. After a bit of complaining he lowered the price to 28.000 and 2000 for the pickup and return. Because on the above experiences, I would not recommend them. The guide was very friendly though.

Thank you for your review. If guest booked online it includes pickup which is at a specific time for the bus to travel to different hotel. If you are choosing a riding time which is different from the regular schedule tour time, then that is private pickup and you pay for that accordingly. Thank you for visiting and we hope to see you again. I’m certain we will make it Uk to you and we sincerely apologize if we had miscommunications regarding the pickup cost. Take care and travel safe.

I spoke with Paul and he arranged our pick up for the next day. My husband and our friends we t on this trail ride. It is a long walk on horseback to the beach. The horses are slow and need some encouragement for this portion. My friend April and I had a bucket list item of galloping on the beach and this company allowed for this.
Once you reach the beach, it is wide open and completely secluded. They take you in small groups to the end of the beach. Again, the horses are very pokey and slow. However, let me tell you what happens when you reach the end. Oh boy! These horses light up like they are at the Kentucky derby. My friend and I are experienced hunter jumper riders and this was a wild ride. You literally hang on for your life while they full out gallop. This moment will always live in my memory. However, a few warnings. 1. No helmet or other appropriate gear, older saddles that are rough leather, you might be in shorts = major chafing. 2. You are a long way from help if you did need it. 3. If you are not experienced, this could be a bad idea.
After the gallop, you get to take the saddles off and take the horses for a swim. This was very fun!

Happy to hear you had the best horseback tour & experience. Firstly, we need to know that you were planning to canter & gallop so that you would actually wear your helmet and not choose to do horses head to horses tail. We have many helmets that guest uses daily if riding as an expert. Our horseback is designed for both beginners & experts alike and you should have told us that you are an expert rider to wear your helmets that we provide. Our horses are healthy, gentle & quiet for all to enjoy so that walk horses head to tail for beginners who have never ridden and needs to feel safe while going slowly. Our horses are not pokey , slow & they need no encouragement and are perfect for everyone who are beginners. This is why you should have told us that you are an expert rider so you would have gotten horses that matches your riding experience. If you are not experienced rider, you must disclose that at orientation ( which you didn’t about your riding/galloping and not taking helmets). Thank you for your review and travel safe.

Amazing horseback riding tour on the beach. Jerome and Carlos were awesome tour guides and captured lots of great photos and videos of me. Riding the horse along the beach and eventually right into the ocean as the sunset was absolutely magical! When I return to Negril I will most definitely come back!
FYI - you can wear open toe shoes or go barefoot. You can wear your bathing suit as is or you can opt to wear cover up or clothes over your swimsuit until it is time for your swim.

The booking says that pickup from Negril hotels are included. I was picked up from White Sands Negril. However, when I arrived at Reggae Horseback Riding I was told by the owner Paul that I needed to pay a $30 transportation fee, so I gave him $30 in cash. This is either false advertising or he decided to take advantage of me possibly since I was a solo female traveler! He also told me that I got lucky because I was getting a private tour and that I should tip the tour guide really well because usually there are more people. I explained that I didn't have much cash on me. He told me I should give the tour guide the cash that I had and also I should send more through Cash App. I did give the tour guide a tip of $55 through Cash App. When booking, you have to enter your weight, which makes sense. I am a heavier person, but I feel like the horse they prepared for me was too small. The horse didn't seem happy at all. I felt bad, I was told by a local after I booked that they don't like the place because they don't feel like the horses are taken very good care of. When we got closer to the beach, the horse stopped and definitely did not want to go into the water. The horse kept trying to go back on the trail and the tour guide had to keep re-directing my horse. The only good things is that the photos were included and they are taken on my phone. However, I couldn't use most of the photos because the horse didn't look too happy. Secondly, the owner did stress the importance of spraying down really well with mosquito repellant. The tour guide also helped me spray again before we made the trail back. I still got several bites, but I appreciated the care and concern. I would not recommend this tour to others based on my experience.

This tour was the worst tour I’ve ever been on! I wish I hadn’t even booked. To think I booked this for my birthday! Worst ride ever and I couldn’t wait to get off. When we arrived one or the guides asked did we have bug spray...which we did not because no one told us to bring anything. The way my legs are still in pain from the countless bites I have is ridiculous! The tour was filled with countless swamps and the smell was disgusting. It’s a farm so I get it but I’d appreciate a heads up before I’m on the back of a horse and I’ve paid my money. I also hated that they didn’t ask us our comfort level before having the horses charge into the water with no warning. It was way to much for someone who has anxiety and a fear of drowning. When we got into the water all the mosquitoes flew up and swarmed around me and I almost fell off the horse! All in all the only good part was the ride across the beach but the minutes spent leading up to that was filled with horrible smells, countless mosquitos and bites, a very boring
ride through the farm and not what the description paints the picture as AT ALL!!!

Hours after the experience at Reggae Horseback Riding, I am still smiling at the memories. As a first-time rider I was naturally apprehensive, however, I quickly became comfortable after receiving some pro tips during the orientation when I was quizzed about my comfort level and assigned a horse that "matched" me. During booking Paul itemized what I should take with me - bathing suit, beach towel, bug repellent, water, sunscreen - so I was prepared for the scenic ride to the beach and the exhilarating and refreshing ride into the sea. Kemar and Rashid, the guides, were extremely personable and took gorgeous photos and videos for me.

Highly recommended. Felt completely comfortable and I was able to have my own private tour. I got to ride how I wanted when I wanted and the guide followed behind. This is the only tour I have found that they allow you to ride at your level snd not just walk the horse the entire time. I was never rushed to get back in a certain time limit and Paul the owner and Carlos the guide were so nice and friendly. Pictures were done on my phone so there was no added cost for the memories. I would definitely recommend this one of a kind place.

In total there was 4 of us that went on the 2 hour beach ride. Myself & friend ride regularly and have our own Horses at home & our partners who don’t ride regularly. The ride started down a stoney but flat track then about 40 minutes later we arrive at the most beauty secluded beach that was just perfect we had a walk along the shore & then the 2 guides asked if my friend and I wanted a gallop along the beach as we are confident riders, which we did and it was amazing. Then we changed into our swimwear and took the horses pretty deep into the water. It was an amazing experience & the 2 guides were great. I’ve ridden all over the world & this tour was the best one I’ve been on yet & will be very difficult to beat. Book it up… you won’t regret it

Thank you for your lively review. We are delighted that you found our guides very knowledgeable as they are, that you found our horses very quiet & gentle so that you could trot & canter on our private beach. We are the closest horseback offering rides for beginners & experts alike. We hope you will visit again. Thank you.

I have gone on several horseback riding excursions in Jamaica and this was the best by far. I wanted an ocean ride on the beach. I took a private tour with a great guide who was really knowledgeable about the plant and animal life in Jamaica and some of its history. I had a calm horse who was well trained. When we got to the beach I had the option to canter freely. After the beach ride in a private area we took our horses for a swim in the beautiful warm Jamaica water. My guide took a lot of pictures which I will always treasure. Whether you are an experienced rider or novice this is a wonderful and unforgettable experience

Hello Courtney, thank you for asking about our horses health. Our horses are very healthy. However, horses that lives in North America & Europe does have 6 months of winter and must be fed hay, Oates, barley, wheat, corn and when it’s warmer weather grazing is allowed. Our horses are very happy, sunshine all year round at 90-100 degrees and no winter. Our horses are fed daily, and grazing is all-year round with an abundance of grass. Our horses range 12-16 hands and are quarter horse mixes. All our horses are home-bred. Clearly, our home bred horses would already be the happiest horses, enjoying daily life of grazing with regular horse grains - added with corn, Oates & wheat to broaden their daily diet. We look forward to having you and your reservation would be required. You may enjoy the regular group ride or choose a private tour option designed for the more experienced riders. Thank you for choosing reggae horseback and welcome to 🇯🇲 Jamaica.

What is the transfer time from Sandals Negril? I'm interested in a private, 2 person ride (plus possibly any other tour you may offer that same day). Also, I see that you take pics during the ride. Is that with your camera? Or do we need to bring ours? Thank you for your time.

Hello Greyparrotbreeder,
Thank you for choosing reggae horseback. We are about 20 minutes drive. We do have drivers who who will do the Combo tours which everyone finds to be a far better value -added experience. So you can horseback, then unto the waterfalls, with a Jamaican lunch, maybe also take you to a special plantation - coffee they will stop at the local supermarket for better value, and then back in the evening you will be taken to the Rick's Cafe' to watch the best sunset ever. Photos are taken with your cameras as other horseback tours charges $20 for 2 photos, we felt better having trained all our guides to be photographers and who truly will make your reggae horseback experience one of the highlights of your vacation.
We are the only horseback that offers Private tours as well. Rider's prefer this option so as not to be among the bigger groups or be slowed down with beginners. We specialized in both and Private Tours is more relaxing, no long lines, no time constraints, personal guide, free drink & free photos.
Thank you for your inquiry and we certainly look forward to having you ride with us. You may email us directly so that we can better tailor your desired Combo Tour

Hello Abbie,
Thank you for choosing reggae horseback riding for this fun experience. We allow children at age five to ride with us and we have had a few four year olds before but they rode with their parents or tourguide. The child's horse is always held using a lead rope with the guide holding that lead rope but parents are required to chose which option they prefer. ( either the guide holding lead rope or parents allowing child to ride with them & guide holding a lead rope! Our horses are very gentle, particularly those used for kids riding with parents or by themselves. We are proud to say that this is the most important choice for us whenever it comes to selecting a horse for children to ride. The extra caution we offer is that we provide a walking guide "only" to hold the lead rope as the walking guide is better able to assist if needs be versus guides riding while holding this lead rope.
