About
Consisting of a series of natural limestone pools, the Blue Hole is a hidden gem that captivates travelers with its azure waters. It offers quite the adventure: swim in the pools, go cliff-jumping, swing from ropes into the waters, explore a cave, and take a 10-minute hike to the Secret Falls. There are bathrooms and changing rooms onsite, with lockers and lifejackets available for rent. There aren’t much crowds at the Blue Hole, especially from mid-morning onwards. The waterfall is best visited with a tour from Montego Bay or Ocho Rios, which often includes the option to also visit Dunn’s River Falls, or go river tubing. – Tripadvisor

- Samantha S2 contributionsOne day, Lifetime memoriesMy son and I went to the blue hole and tubing experience. I had a great time. We had so much fun. My son gained so much confidence from jumping and doing flips into the water I was so proud of him. It was beautiful even on a rainy day. Our guides were great too! Romain and Lindo(sp) were so fun. If you're reading this...I'm on Facebook... friends for life! haha Definitely would book this excursion if you are thinking of going to this area.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 13 September 2023
- Cheryl Shepherd BCocoa Beach, Florida101 contributionsBreath takingToo beautiful for words. But I believe the locals should have free or extreme reduced rates to get in. Seems like they are getting shut out of this and other beautiful sites in their homeland. Students should get in for free for sure to encourage locals to take pride in Jamaica's beauty.Visited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 20 September 2023
- Nate DMoline, Illinois4 contributionsThe coolest excursion!!The Blue Hole is absolutely amazing! We knew that we wanted to do Dunn's River Falls but had never heard about Blue Hole until it popped up on our search for Dunn's River. If you can only do one of them make it the Blue Hole. You will not regret it! It is like a scene right out of a movie. Jumping into clear blue water and swimming under a waterfall. This excursion is an absolute must!!Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 October 2023
- Greg BeckwithBrandon, Canada17 contributionsBlue Hole excursionWe opted to take a taxi from our resort to the blue hole instead of booking the excursion through the hotel. It ended up costing about 50.00 less and we got a personal tour guide. When we arrived our guide Nick (Sugar Nick) greater us and walked us through what to expect. We forgot our water shoes so he brought us over to where we could rent them and helped us set that all up. The tour lasted about an hour. Nick was veery knowledgeable and personable. He knew the Blue Hole very well and made sure to help us through any part of the hike that we needed help with. I would highly recommend this experience if your looking for a short fun excursion and highly recommend Nick as your tour guide.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 October 2023
- D DYucca Valley, California14 contributionsRefreshing and majesticThe blue hole was very majestic, the guides allow you to not only jump in but to swing in off the rope swing. Not going to lie, a little nerve wracking, but definitely worth it once you do it. The water is so deep and blue and might I add refreshing! We could’ve spent a lot more time here than we actually did. Definitely a must seeVisited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 12 October 2023
- 81OkieGirlYukon, Oklahoma138 contributionsTry to go when it hasn’t rained for a whileOur family loved Blue Hole. Unfortunately it rained a lot the night before so the hole was brown, but it was still a blast jumping down all the waterfalls and swinging from ropes like Tarzan! Our guides were a ton of fun even taking pics and videos of us on our phones. One of our guides was a daredevil jumping from crazy heights doing all sorts of backflips. So fun!Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 13 October 2023

- Explorer7013615 contributionsA must see when you vist JamaicaGreat experience! We took a private driver from ochi, the entire experience was awesome, it rained alot that particular day but that did not prevent us from enjoying what was there to be seen. We didn't do the the jump/ plunge at our own choice, you dont have to if you don't want to. The tail takes about 15 /20 minutes to get there, its very shady so no need for heavy sun screen. Its a guided tour, the tour guides are there as you go. They are very and knowledgeable ,they take good of you , ours was TYROON, thanks tyroon. Water shoes are recommended. Water is cold lol.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 October 2023

I didn’t want to jump off and do this one so I watched and took photos. It wasn’t very blue because a storm had passed and churned up! Husband enjoyed jumping in and zip wire. Water was refreshing. - Rebecca G6 contributionsBeautiful but intimidatingWent to Blue Hole me and my daughter before visiting Dunns River. It was a bit chaotic but our driver was great and knew what to do when we got there. You get 2 guides and they expect a tip which of course is standard however one kept on saying all the way around right from beginning tip us good, tip us good, treat us well and then said tip us $20 each! Which I did! I felt quite intimidated which was a shame cos the place was nice and when he wasn’t saying about tips he was actually a nice lad. The experience was good. The falls and beautiful blue pools are amazing but the way I felt I wouldn’t go back!Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 December 2023

My wife and I had an amazing time at Blue Hole. It's about 30 minutes from Tower Isle and is not in the same direction as Dunn's River. Note, everything is cash only. Admission was $1800 JMD each and there was no one else in our group. Locker was $2 USD. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and obligingly took pictures and video for us with our own cameras. He pointed out plants, helped us with the route, and encouraged us to do all the water jumps, of which there are about 6, all of varying heights. I tipped him $3000 JMD because I was so pleasantly impressed after Dunn's River the previous day, and he helped us get a ride back to Tower Isle when our original driver didn't pick up the phone. Overall would definitely do again!!!

We booked this tour through our resort agent to try something adventurous. Although definitely exciting, this tour is designed for anyone to participate. I was a bit intimidated at the cliff jump into the blue hole as they told me you need to be a strong swimmer. The definition of strong required for this is able to float without drowning and in my opinion anyone that can swim at all can do this. They take you to a beautiful waterfall and you jump off a platform about 5m high into the bottom of a waterfall, it’s really fun and the tour guides/lifeguards are at the platform and in the water with you. You also wear a life jacket for this. As expected when you jump in you get a bit of water pressure from the falls but with a life jacket and the water flow, you float to an area 20m away and walk back onto the shore. It’s very safe. One of the girls in our group can’t swim and the life guard offered to jump in with her for comfort and she did it and loved it.
The river float was pretty chill with a couple of spots you pick up speed for a few seconds but is otherwise a peaceful float through a scenic river.
The zip line portion was also fun. You go over some forest areas and then end the zip line flying over the river. There are some portions that give you a rush as it’s fairly high up and you land on platforms in trees. The guides tie you off when you land between lines and seem very experienced.
At the end of the activities they took us to jimmy buffets margharitaville in Ocho Rios. The restaurant has a fun vibe but the food is mediocre at best. Probably the worst meal I have had in Jamaica.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this tour. It’s an adrenaline rush and a fun day. The company Chukka is very organized and I had no concerns for safety through the whole experience. The reason I would give it a 4/5 is that they pick you up 7:30 and you don’t eat your mediocre lunch until 3 so I recommend bringing some snacks. Also, they tell you it’s fine to leave your bag on the bus at the blue hole jump, but then when you get to the river float they make you rent a locker for $8US. It’s only $8 but we brought a waterproof case to bring our phone and cash with us on the float and just wanted to leave some shoes and towel on the bus but aren’t allowed, it’s a bit of a cash grab.
Bring some cash to tip the tour guides, they are fun and did an A+ job making sure everyone was safe and had a good time. Jerome our guide and Jean, our driver were awesome.

The Blue Hole is a beautiful place and if you love waterfalls please visit. It was a hot day and we loved the coolness of the pool. Our guide was young and really good at leading us over the hazards. If you are Canadian, you will find it annoying that there are craft vendors along the path although we were okay with it. The ticketing, parking lot, and path are not to Canadian standards so prepare yourself for that. Our guide was awesome and we gave him a ten US tip which wiped the smile off his face. We thought it was fair as the price of admission was $40 US for the two of us, so it was 25% which we understood to be fair. We assumed he was also being paid by the park and if this is not so, I would’ve paid him more. I did research tipping in Jamaica before I left and while I was there and I am still unsure what I should have done.

Booked through a cruise excursion that included Mystic Mountain and the Bobsled. Came here first presumably yo avoid the crowds. The guides were super and kept helping everyone up the areas and telling us to take our time. They would even jump with people who were a little scared. They were patient and waited for everyone and a good time was had by all. Bought all the pictures at the end also and they were very good.
This place is beautiful and was our favorite part of the entire cruise.

We booked a tour of the Blue Hole and Dunns River Falls. Very different experiences – both very enjoyable. First getting to the Blue Hole is part of the adventure. The destination is up a steep, narrow, road that looks just wide enough for one vehicle – but – in Jamaica this is a 2-way road. Kudos to our van driver who had to backup numerous times to allow cars going in the opposite directions to get by us.
Our tour took place on November 13, I mentioned this since our Blue Hole guide mentioned that water is frequently diverted from the river and sent down the hill via a water main. They are currently working on the main so for the next few weeks there is a lot of water going over the falls and into the hole. From reading other reviews, it appears you are typically allowed to jump from the falls and other locations around the lagoon. Due to the quantity of water currently flowing over the falls we were permitted to jump either from the platform (12 – 15 ft?) or below the platform (1 – 2 ft?)
After the jump you float down to a rope which is strung across the river and you use the rope to assist you to the river bank. After everyone made it to the bank, the guides assisted us to a natural water slide which sent us further down the river.
The area around the blue hole is simply beautiful. The staff is friendly and safety conscious.
I would recommend you bring water shoes and either a water camera or a dry bag for your phone camera. Our guide instructed us to leave our towels, beach bag, and other belongings on the van as he stated this is a WET adventure. He was 100% accurate and we were so glad we went on this tour.

So I have a little mix feeling about this place, reason is the place it self is amazing! Beautiful little gem tucked away from the bustling of the town........buuuuuut the people there makes it hard for me to say I would go back!
First when we arrived, the two ladies at the front was arguing in front of us because each want our sale from those dirty shoes they were renting/selling. That was a turn off, no need to argue in front of us. Second everyone trying to sell us something and they don’t want to take no thank you as an answer, we came here for the falls/water!!!! Not to spend the day buying unnecessary items that’s over priced!
Oh before I forget the guy that sells the jerk chicken was very friendly, not pushy and gave good customer service. There was also one guy about half way the journey selling cold beer from an igloo he was very approachable and his mannerism caused my husband to stop and buy a beer from him although hubby really didn’t want a beer.
Now back to the negative, one of the tour guides was hinting to us that we need to take care of the guide we were using and at first I didn’t understand what he was trying to say until he said it out loud to tip the guide well. I was taken aback because I thought tipping was based on the customers discretion and to even be brining that up before we even had a chance to settle was a big turn off!
Then when we got back I gave the guide a tip, based on what I thought was reasonable but I guess since I gave the guide (William) in local money he wasn’t pleased or maybe he was hoping for thousands of dollars he was upset and right in front of my husband he started cursing that we were the worst people he ever guide. The guy he was speaking with walked away but that impression William gave us is the number one reason I would never return. It would have been better if he had asked for more money than to be cursing. I planned to take my friends there in December when I visit but honestly I’d rather go back to Dunn’s river because in all the time I’ve gone there I’ve never experienced that with a staff!

We really enjoyed visiting the blue hole. We were not brave enough to jump, but took the ladder down and was so surprised how beautiful it was there! What a neat place to swim away from the sun. And watching the men jump and do their flips and such was very entertaining. There’s also a pool there you can swim in and a bar. The only thing I didn’t like was there was a guy trying to sell the mud that you rub on your skin to guests. When we said no thanks we will just grab our own when we are down there, he said if we do that we still have to pay for it. Then we felt like we were being watched. If it wasn’t for that I would have given it 5 stars ! If the staff or owner is reading this, tell your guys not to harass guests about the mud. It’s such a turn off!

We really enjoyed our trip to the Blue Hole. We visited as part of a cruise excursion that also included tubing down a river. I highly recommend visiting as some sort of combo with another activity because this is a short, albeit exhilarating, activity.
Our stop only involved the more developed falls where you jump off a developed platform into the basin of a waterfall. Total rush. The water is cold and fast moving, but the guides expertly scoop you up and make sure you get to the safety lines. We were allowed to jump twice before moving on to the zipline/rope swing, then we were done.
Water shoes are definitely needed and you are expected to tip your guides. All told it’s a little expensive for the length of the activity, but my whole family absolutely loved it.
My only complaint is that they could clean up a little around the shores. There were rum bottles and garbage in piles off the sides (which is pretty par for the course around Jamaica - must have something to do with infrastructure), but for the price you'd think they'd haul it away.

This was our first time to Jamaica and we wanted to experience special adventures together. My biggest concern was safety so naturally I had lots of questions regarding reputable tour guides, safe adventure destinations, and reasonable costs.
While doing my research I came across other reviews that mentioned Jacques Tours Jamaica. Other American tourists had a great time and had wonderful things to say. I emailed Jacques and he quickly responded to all my concerns and questions. We organized a private tour from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios, which included the Blue Hole, White River rafting, and horseback riding on the beach.
The Blue Hole was simply amazing! We were dropped off by our tour guide and introduced to our Blue Hole tour guide. We walked up watery trails, jumped off cliffs, and swam in cool blue waters. Amazing!
When we were done, our driver was there waiting to take us to the next adventure. We felt safe at all times.
I would highly recommend Jacques Tours Jamaica for all your tour and transportation needs. Our driver Jervis was knowledgeable, funny, and had serious driving skills on narrow windy roads.
Jamaica, we'll be back! Yah mon!

This was an amazing place. Quick tips. Wear water shoes with thick soles. Not cheap flimsy water shoes. Wear Chacos, Tevas or Keens since there is a lot of climbing so make sure you are in decent physical shape and you don’t have the fear of jumping in water. Our guide was wonderful. He took plenty of pics with my phone so skip buying pictures from the on-site photographers. Admission was $20 a person in March 2021. A must go place for daredevil teenagers.

Well i book my clients through tcjtours for years they are based in Montego bay and Falmouth so you can easily book with them on there tour page . They are a private service so its up to you how long you want to stay ive stayed 1hr -2hrs . I mean ive eaten at so many stops if your in Ocho rios try pattie stop in the town or scotches for jerk chicken the drivers know everything so there the best to chat up with on the day and just let them serve you .

Lo siento mucho, no lo hago. No hablo español pero estoy seguro de que hay opciones. Estoy dispuesto a apostar que tienen guías turísticos que hablan español, pero no es un idioma común en Jamaica.

How far is the platform from the water? My husband and I are in a debate after jumping this summer. He says it was a 10’ jump and I say 30’. What’s the correct distance? Thanks!
Written 9 July 2023
I’m not sure of the exact height of the jump. It felt like 10 metres, but was probably not much more than 5. All I know is that I would probably have not chosen to go there if I had known the reality beforehand. But, having survived, I felt good about it.

I'll be pregnant when we are there. Can I go? I'm not planning on jumping in obviously. I just want to swim.

Yes, as long as you are able to do a little walking and moving. It's a little slippery at times, you definitely need water shoes.

I am a non swimmer and fear of deep water. However hubby is good swimmer. We are keen to visit blue hole with tui trip to kokono falls to. Can I just walk the falls while hubby swims. Or paddle in shallower waters. Life jacket won't conquer the fear tried it in Dominican Republic when missold a waterfall tour.

Chilled in the pool! I couldn't edit my answer lol
Written 28 January 2022
I didnt see any broken glass or sharp rocks. Thus, even no shoes would have been okay where we were, but I recommend them only for safety. I think any shoe with a strap to stay on would be fine. Sliders will definitely fall off.
