Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is where all of the tour taxis which is another issue pull in and drop you off at the hip strip and don't warn you about these people on the deals they are not giving you. We were taken for a ride after we spent a couple hundred dollars and they supposedly share a huge discount with us go to find out later there really was no discount we went to mystic mountain and shirts that we supposedly received huge discounts on where at the mountain for 5 to 8 dollars cheaper than the Banana bay shop. Now this was our only time shopping in town but wished we would have waited to shop at the end of the trip

Montego Bay feels very poor and run down as you leave the airport. Lots of roadside stalls selling sandwiches, fruit and beer. But lots of people sleeping rough who look very impoverished also line the roads, literally.

There's a shanty town of stalls selling tacky souvenirs and tea shirts. This place doesn't feel safe or friendly.

I was excited to see some nice stores in which to shop, but I didn't feel like I found any bargains. Dresses were pretty but over priced. Souvenirs were priced accordingly, but the rum was way over priced. I would suggest buying liquor at the duty free stores instead and you would save a lot of money.

When in Montego Bay, call Eric Thorpe @ 876-797-0769. He is very professional and knows the city extremely well! He is safe & very courteous with years of driving experience. He took our family on many tours which included Montego Bay & Negril, Ricks Cafe! Very professional and I highly recommend him!

I am sorry I had to put the shopping centre in but really my review is about the airport in Montego Bay. We left to come home on October 19th and I have to talk about one of the shops that we visited. I purchased a Bolt T shirt so the store can be narrowed down. I have to admit I was a bit tired as well as anxious to get a Bolt shirt. I counted out ten one thousand Jamaican dollars and the girl told me that I needed three hundred more. So I handred her 10300.00 Jamaica dollars which is roughly 103 Canadian dollars for a 23 dollar tshirt. Now I know I made an error but what I am extemely upset about is the girl watched me count out the money and she gladly took it!!!! I went back to the store and told her that I had given her too much money. She handed me 8 thousand Jamaican dollars back and then proceeded to tell me that she did not count the money she just put it in the drawer. I told her that she did not count out the money but she watched me do it and told me I needed to give her another 300 dollars!!! I tld her what she did was not COOL!!! This is so sad really because it is the one spot that I have always felt I was getting great help!!!! I got home and discovered that my partner had thrown out the reciept so I could not call the manager!!!! All I can say is shopper beware!!!! I hope the girl that tried to rip me off gets her Karma!!!!

This shopping centre does not exist now.
Everything apart from Iris's little Indian shop has been vacated.
It was difficult to find out why there are now no facilities at this port other than the few signs that say they are remodelling the 2 cruise terminals here.
Our ship the MV Voyager arrived for an overnight stop in port from Santo Domingo and we had to spend the day on the far terminal and reposition to the nearer cruise terminal after the U S ship MSC Opera left the berth, ( apparently it is that ship's home berth and we needed the main terminal to unload our passengers at the end of our cruise.
We were not allowed to walk between the 2 terminals ( health and safety as it is a dock with containers) and had to wait for a free shuttle bus that would have liked to be tipped.
The cruise terminal is a nearly empty large space, visually unappealing apart from an outside curved walkway with blossom.
There are various staff mainly standing around and several check points.
My main disappointment was the only " shopping" was a few stalls hidden behind the terminal, no food or drink available and wifi only if you paid somebody.
There were no pictures or artefacts apart from a tourist office stall.
There were several taxi drivers offering tours at various prices.
Passengers were quoted differing prices for the trip into Montego and the beach which also had to be paid for.
There was 3 dollar wifi from Iris's shop right by the passenger exit by the security staff would not let passengers use the locked gate to get to it, only crew were allowed access.
When the female staff opened the gate for 2 of our crew members I asked to be allowed through but was refused.
( The staff telephoned dome manager and rather than allowing me through said the crew would have to walk the long way round so I said that it was very unfair and unkind )
I had to walk all the way around, along 3 roads for 15 minutes to get back to near where I had started.
The non existence of facilities and this ridiculous gate / wifi issue has spoilt my visit to Jamaica.

This store rips off tourist. Its ran by a Indian man. There is nothing on sale here. Everybody that works in this store gets a pay-cut and they over chage you. Never pay with a card here. Always pay cash. However never buy souvenirs here. This store is on the hip-strip right next to Nova Scotia bank. The name of this store is Priceless gift shop. Once again please do not go here. Better yet buy your souvenirs at the Airport.

My wife and I took a cruise and one of the stops was the shopping center. Once my wife got started it was hard to pull her away. The weather was nice and the people were very friendly. Would go again if possible..

We were on a cruise and stopped in Montego Bay. We had just enough time to shop and lay out in the sun for a bit (only bad thing about cruises - never have enough time at a port). The shops are very affordable and picked up some cute souvenirs.
