We rented horses to go up the mountain. It was unbelievably beautiful. The views were breath taking, the Citadel itself was fascinating. The down side was the mob of locals outside upon arrival. It was both alarming and overwhelming. A literal fist fight broke out...More

A remarkable fortress, reminiscent of the struggles of Haiti's past. When one sees the narrow path to the top, it raises questions about how the stone was quarried and transported, how many workers toiled and tarried to build the imposing citadel that beckons you to...More

Don't come here without sneakers. They charge you $10 for using the a horse, and it's a great experience. Ask for Pedro, Peter and Alexis. They know at least english and spanish and you give them whatever you want.

It's been a wonderful experience to visit the Citadelle. It wasn't easy climbing all the way up there, but I think that's the fun part about it. Great for family or a group of friends.

Everyone should visit this site when in Haiti. It's an amazing peace of history. The structure itself is remarkable and the view from the top is breathtaking.

I would budget more than that with a guide for 4 people. The horses are $10 each rt and the guides and the guys who take you up on the horses all ask for a tip. If I remember correctly the entrance fee for my family of 4... More
