We drove to the far north of the island to visit this beach and do the boardwalk in the mangroves. Boardwalk well marked but very short ending at the lake . The beach is stunning . Turtles come here to nest so there is security here.

Not many people at this pretty beach with nice views of islands. Water a bit rough, but clear and warm. Not here for turtle season, but that must be amazing. Small trail of trees to explore in short trail.

We didn't properly utilize it, but there's always people there and drinks available from local entrepreneurs (food too sometimes). It's a beautiful beach and would be great to swim at. The nearby islands are really cool and if we weren't in a hurry I could see hanging out for a while and talking with the locals or taking a dip. The sea is rough there, but would be cool in the shallows.

Levera Beach is well known for being a breeding ground for some trans Atlantic Leatherback turtles.
There are signs at the beach relaying this message and the time of year they arrive...Early summer seems to be the peak time.
Beyond the turtles its just a nice quite beach with calmer waters than its neighboring Bathaway beach.
Its a nice spot if you want some privacy, but that comes with less facilities. The parking isn't far off from the beach, so as long as you are geared up you should be ok.
Its a courser sand and has some rockiness to it relative to other beaches on the island.
The other interesting factoid is this area is right by or right at where the Caribbean meets the Atlantic.

Fantastic. We went independently to Levera Beach but it is possible to get there as part of a tour. You need to book a guide before arriving as the guided tours of the beach get very booked up. The guided beach tours are run by SPETO: St Patrick's Environmental Conservation Tourism Organisation. SPECTO does not at present have a web site but will be having a new site soon. You can follow SPECTO on twitter @spectogrenada.
We were so lucky; we had only just finished listening to the information talk and had arrived at the beach when we were told there was a leatherback turtle, settled and ready for us to watch nesting. A fantastic spectacle that we were so privileged to watch. The whole process took just over two hours. The guide was so informative. SPECTO are doing great work to protect this wonderful endangered turtle.
There is a XEC20 fee.

Lovely stretch of beach which joins bathwaybeach. There are 3 close Islands. No one on it when we went. Get the bus to Grenville, the from there get the bus to sauteurs and asked to be dropped for bathway (you get dropped in r sallee). It's a 30 min walk to bathway. A large stretch of beach with refreshments and facilities. Then the walk to levera pond is 7 mins to see the mangrove then 7 mins on is levera. We walked round levera beach to bus stop for sauteurs which prob took 45 mins. Great way to see the true grenada.

An amazing place for a taste of Pure Grenada. The drive up to it via the west coast is stunning. All the colors of the rainbow are experienced..... One you get there, protected bathing in the form of a reef which protects the little ones from the waves.......Look up Paradise in the dictionary, you'll see a picture of this place....

We were really excited about this trip and made the 3 hour round trip on good reports, but in reality we were really disappointed.
The set up is fine but the guides were annoyingly controlling barking orders not to use cameras even though they has red light night vision as they had asked for. The guide had one low red light and shone it constantly on the backside if the turtle, never attempting the show you the whole creature and any time someone tried to get a view, they got barked at!
We totally appreciate that the animals welfare comes first, but they also need to appreciate that if they are to continue to find their project with tourists money then they must be more friendly and accommodating. We felt like we were unwelcome guests in and A & E department t, getting in the way of the doctors.
My advise to the guides would be that they should try to provide one photo opportunity to the group by using red light to provide some view of the turtle, then tell people to switch of cameras if they must. Some kind of commentary would be nice too so we know what is happening. As it turned out we saw the wrong end of a turtle lay eggs, then stood in the dark for An hour or more watching the wrong end of a turtle move painfully slow back to the sea, where we saw the wrong end of a turtle disappear, before we were allowed to go!
Ease remember that this project is funded by tourists 'shelling out' (sorry!).

We stayed at Petite Anse so we could go and watch the Leatherback Turtles laying their eggs.
The accompanied trip cost EC$50. This includes an introduction and explanation of the Leatherback turtles and a night visit to the beach.
On the night we visited 5 x turtles came to shore and laid their eggs, plus one nest hatched.
This is an up close and personal experience with these huge creatures.
Not to be missed.

This is the beach S.P.E.C.T.O. takes you to watch these amazing creatures from March to July - from 6PM to 6AM this beach is officially closed ans SPECTO are the only legally allowed people to be here due to the turtles coming to the shore laying eggs (do see SPECTO profile I have created here if you are interested as it's an amazing local program).
Have not visited during the day but it's past the Bathaway Beach (which is nice) and you have to drive for a while on a dirt road - much more secluded and remote than Bathaway so unless you stay in the area I would not go this far during the day and Bathaway would do it for me.
TIP: we stayed in Petit Anse Hotel and it's about 25-30 minutes drive to Bathaway Beach and then another 10-15 minutes drive on the dirt road, we had a regular small car and it was perfectly fine but SUV may get you there faster :)
