The drive to the top of the mountain that is actually a dormant volcano is beautiful and gives you a great idea of what the foliage is in Grenada - spices growing on trees, lush jungle, exotic birds and animals. We went here on our own. We walked down the old road a bit as I read there was a trail that goes around the lake. We didn't follow it all of the way so I can't comment on where it takes you. Perhaps going with a guide would provide for a better experience. A nice view, at least.

It's not enough to stay at the top of the hill and view the crater, you have to make the walk. There is a path that leads right to edge of the crater, where you can see the ducks and other birds peacefully resting on the water. The path around the lake has different fruits and food trees. My tour guide kindly showed me this when I was on an all day tour of Grenada. It is just north of the Rivers Rum Distillery and is well signed from the road. Lake Grand E'tang is the best known crater lake in Grenada and it is a usual stop on most tours. Lake Antoine is similar in that it... More
